"Targeted As" trouble

Can someone give me advice on how to use targets?

If a unit actually is a hero, he can attack heroes even when I don't want him to. If a set a unit as a tree, I can't have units target it as a tree. It has to actually BE a tree.

I need 5 different kinds of targets for different reasons and I simply can't find a way to get just 1 more kind of unit.

I have:

Ward, ground, air, structure. Now I'm trying to add some of them together; for example ground/hero (refer to 1st issue) and it still messes up.

Can someone give me some advice on how to work with these targets or simply share a combination of targets that works

You can manipulate classification field.

Soo you able to combine mechanical suicide and anshient* with basic targets.

*typed incorrect.

Same class values mix up.

Unit with air + ground can be attacked by both AA AG attacks.

But air + mechanical can only be attacked by AA + mechanical.

logicaly

same class is

A or B

different class is

A and B

mixed

(A or B) and (C or D)

my issue still remains.

It's not a problem with the logic. I believe it's a problem with the editor.

I set a hero organic unit as: Ground/Mechanical

I set its attacker with targets allowed: ground/mechanical

Error message received: "Must target mechanical unit."

I can also not set a unit as a tree. Only trees can be targeted as trees apparently. Also, Hero units (ones that level and use hero abilities) that exclude [Hero] in targets allowed can still attack heroes, while regular units can't.

I will try combining multiple attributes, but I'm sure the bug will still stand.

If you have an organic hero, it should be targeted as: Ground
Then, in the targets allowed part of whatever spell you're dealing with, it should allow the targets: Organic, Hero, Ground

That should work. If you want it to work on more than just heroes, remove the hero requirement. Note that targets allowed is buggy for some spell bases and works for others, so it's a real shot in the dark sometimes. The best chance to get it is to play with it.

Just look at spells in OE, they will help you to fix your problems.

Max number of possible target types is

4 types (ground,air,structure,ward)
*
5 (hero,orcanic,mechanical,encient,suicide)

*hero target is class, not type.

Total 20.

Also you can combine inside classes and make giants (attacked as air and ground) hero.

If you need sample, provide map with objects and instructions about targeting rules.
