Team Deathmatch (Alternative to CTF)

I'm hoping to in-corporate an alternative mode to Capture the Flag & am very open to suggestions.
Prefably something more along the lines of a Team Deathmatch sort of atmosphere.

My current idea is this:

Overrun
  • The game is split up into X rounds (determined by host). Each round lasts upto 2 minutes or simply once 1 team has been annihilated.
  • The teams are split into Attacking/Defending teams which alternate between rounds, or simply switch after a number of rounds.
  • The defending team have only 1 life, but start of in more fortified/strategic positions.
  • The attacking team have 2 lives!, but start of in the most vulnerable locations.
  • Each team gains +1 point per person who survives a round. However as the players on the attacking team have 2 lives, the first life they can use more recklessly to pursue in heavy offense.
  • Each team would still spawn together in a shopping area as normal but not respawn unless they have a life left over or until the next round.
  • When the game ends/rounds expired, the team with the most points claims victory!

The gameplay would be shifted more towards killing but with a great emphasis on survival.
- The attacking team would generally try to rush in as fast as possible, trying to inflict as much damage, even if it means self sacrifice, atleast the first life. The 2nd life would be used more cautiously but potentially capitlising on the first rush.
- The defending team would generally try and rally into defensive positions & try to hold out as long as possible.

Updated thread a bit.

FFA would be a bit mindless/chaos, but with a cool game mode it could be fun, just like that Mutant one they had on UT.

In paint ball I¡ve played a mode called "arm the bomb" in this option one team has to find the parts of the bomb and arm it in the center of the terrain game and the other has to avoid this.

I think this can be developed perfectly in this game.

JUGGERNAUT MODE.

1 (insane beastly juggernaut) v.s. all. The juggernaut gets points for killing. The player that kills the juggernaut becomes the new juggernaut.

Heres all the gametypes I can think of. (Most are taken from halo)
Gametypes:
One Sided CTFOne team defends for X minutes, while the other tries to get their flag. There are 4 rounds total.
Multi-Flag CTFThe standard game
Tug Of WarTeams pick up a flag located in the center, and try to bring it to their enemies base. The carrier is very slow.
One-Sided AssaultOne team has a bomb, which they must bring to the enemy base, and defend for 15 seconds while it detonates. It takes 4 seconds of standing on the bomb to disarm it.
Multi Bomb AssaultBoth teams have bombs.
Team DeathmatchTeams work together to get X number of kills first.
DeathmatchPlayers are alone, and must get X kills first.
JuggernautOne player is the very strong Juggernaut, who gets points for killing others. If you kill him, you become the juggernaut.
One Sided VIPOne team must defend a VIP (one player on their team), while the other team tries to kill him.
Multi VIPBoth teams have a VIP.

I like the bomb game ideas. here's a few ideas I have.

Headquarters - Set up for the game would require choosing a few different locations in which the headquarters could spawn(Set up during map making, NOT during game) So game starts both teams start in different sides and in one of these pre-decided areas randomly a headquarters spawns.

Phase-1: first both teams try to take over the headquarters as their own, this would be as simple as standing on it for 5-6 seconds. when this happens you go onto phase 2.

Phase-2: Now one team owns the headquarters. They will acquire 1 point for every second they own the headquarters, and this constant point gain will end when the enemy team destroys the headquarters. But there is one more catch, each member on the defending team will not re-spawn. So if the offending team gets a kill that player stays dead(Just for a little while not forever, read on) and then there are fewer players defending the headquarters(Because defending can be easy). So then they keep killing and trying to destroy the headquarters until they do.(Destroying the headquarters once again involves just standing on it for 5-6 seconds or some other amount of time) When the headquarters is destroyed the offending team gets 15 points and the defending team gets however many points they earned defending.

Then!! Phase 1 starts over again and you wash rinse repeat until either A.Time runs out or B.Score limit is reached.

This game type is awesome.

------>Second Idea.

This should be a mod type, you should allow Realism or Hardcore mode that just lowers every players HP for as long as the mod is on. That way it can feel more realistic and players might wanna play more carefully. but Most Importantly They would have new strategies to explore which gives depth to game-play.

How about a "Storm the City" mode?

One team would be the attackers, the other would be the defenders.

Defenders have unlimited respawns and must protect hostages around the map.

Attackers are stronger than defenders, but have only 3 respawns.

When 5 hostages have been escorted to the attacker's base, or the attackers run out of lives, the teams switch.

I'm guessing it should be around 2/3 rounds for the win.

Yea I'm starting to really like the Attacking/Defending teams idea.

I updated the first post with a detailed description of an Overrun mode I intend to add soon.

What about King of the Hill? Anyone who is alive and within a small designated area will earn points at a constant interval, and players attempt to be the only one earning points.

... THE MAP IS BACK ALIVE??? i though u stopped supporting it fulla =O

anyways what about Ninjas? One team consists of invisible players while another consists of slow players witth high hp. ninjas can only use a certain weapon such as a knife that instantly kills slayers while the ninja slayers gain access to unlimited grenades and can only use explosive weapons.

What about calling it Elimination Seeker? Instead of standard Elimination styles, it has to do with using skills and cover, making it more squad based.
