You're very lacking in smaller doodads, like small rocks. At the moment, you pretty much have large rocks and basic terrain. |

Since its a cave having some stalactites (change the pillar rocks so they are upside down and then raise the height so they are coming out of the ceiling) should be placed. Adding a fog, or changing some of the doodad colors may be nice (may). Right now you have bright red flames and ground texture next to dark brown structures and rocks. Planting some red light sources may be useful, and some lava cracks (there is a good lava crack model on this site, im not sure where you can find the light source model there is probably one in the ultimate terrain map). There is some height in the terrain, but it doesn't feel like there is enough; to me at least. Some shafts/pits may be nice, places where the ground drops. Though they probably would only be useful to create a bottleneck, a more direct path or if you have a lot of space on the map, since a shaft/drop would take up room that cannot be used by units. Also as Shade said some small doodads would be nice; id look through the list of doodads know you can change the color of them maybe you can find a small doodad that is useful. Other things that could be from the ceiling: Depending on where this cavern is, and how fantasy like you want. You could add some cracks in the ceiling where fresh water is pouring out, going into a shaft/pit would be nice. Id take the support beam angle it so the flat side is facing up color it black and place it in the pit so the pit is black, like it goes down farther, or somehow give it depth. Then you could have the water pour into the pit and have some steam models/fog put in the pit like there is lava down there. Since i suspect it will be hotter the farther you go down in this already hot cavern. Could also use a light source model and have it angle down from ceiling to ground. Random cave like doodads i can think of: tracks, ore, pick axe, dead bodies, lever, pullies, elevators, depending on what plant model you find some plants. Not all of what Ive talked about above may look nice however it is what i might pounder if i was making this terrain; though i myself have many stages of terraining some of which never make it. If there was any history about black rock that i should of known, i didnt know so my ideas have no bearing on w/e black rock cave is lol. |
