First off, yes, I know this is the wrong forum. But really, no one would see this thread or answer me if I posted there; it's pretty dead, so far as I've seen. The problem being, it won't switch back to normal Warcraft 3. The readme says that the "swapper switches back automatically when you exit TToR or the TToR World Editor", but it didn't. I went ahead and removed all the stuff from the zip file (the swapper, readme, .mpq, and object data) from my Warcraft 3 folder, but it still went to TToR. I am loath to reinstall Wc3, because I've never done that, and I don't know what exactly that does to things like save files, custom maps, and other such-like things. Any help would be appreciated! |

If you want to reinstall anything and you're worried about losing files, make a backup folder of all the files you want to save. That's what I did when I reinstalled WC3 after a big computer crash last year. Then I moved all the files back to where they belonged and they worked just fine. Note: WC3 patches always screw up the ability to watch replays from a previous version, so that has nothing to do with reinstalling. |

it should be fine. most games leave behind some folders when they're uninstalled. those usually include saves, profiles, and a little bit of other stuff. if there's any maps u really want then put them somewhere else. good chance to clean up though. |

Yeah, I would just back up all the maps you want to save to a seperate folder, reinstall Wc3, then put the maps back in. It's a good chance to remove any crappy maps you don't play anymore, so you have less stuff to search through when hosting. |

I've reinstalled twice this week. It's not a huge deal. |

It is if you no longer have the disks =) |

So the general consensus being, "reinstall", eh? 'K then. So other than custom maps/campaigns and save files, is there anything I should take care to backup? |

I'm fairly sure ttor does automatically make a backup of your mpqs. Look around in the folder and see if you find anything You can download replacement cd's by registering you cd keys in the blizzard store: https://www.blizzard.com/account/management/games.xml You should backup replays, saves, maps, campaigns, screenshots, and any custom UI folders if you have the. |

The readme was fairly sure that TToR would switch back to normal Wc3 after you exited the conversion or the editor. But meh. I don't have any replays, or custom UI's (to my knowledge). However, are you saying that it won't save the normal campaigns? |

your profile should save any progress for the normal campaigns and it should stay. if ur really worried about it then grab it too. |

Nah, I'm not too worried; honestly, I don't really play ladder anymore. Odd, considering I'm making custom stuff for it... Anyway, I'm more worried about the fact that I can't find the RoC CD-key. Dug around some and found the TFT one, but that doesn't help me much if RoC remains hidden. I wasn't there to install them in the first place (3-4 yrs ago :P), so I wouldn't know, but I'm pretty sure the CD-keys are required :/ So can anyone lend me their CD-key? :D |

The swapper renames war3patch.mpq to something else in the process, I don't remember what, but unless you also removed it, you should be able to find the backed up mpq, just look for kind of big files in that folder. It was a little lame to remove ttor knowing that one of those files could have been your original mpq... If the switcher failed to restore war3 when war3 exited, you can run the switcher again and it will restore it automatically before you press a button. |

Hmm. It did create some sort of mpq called "blizzardttor" or something, extension ".ttor", so I disregarded it. At one point, I removed everything TToR from the whole Warcraft 3 folder-thingy (you can tell I'm quite computer-savvy :P), including the swapper program, the mpq, the object data, and even the readme. Also removed the two copies of the 2 mpq's that I had made somewhere else in the file. After that, I checked the regular mpq's (war3.mpq, war3x.mpq, etc etc) with Magos, and they seemed unchanged (i.e. normal). Then I opened up Frozen Throne again to test; it was still TToR. Honestly, I may not understand this whole "computer" biz, but it seems to me that if all the necessary information (held on the mpqs) is zipped up in a file and thus unreachable, it should at least mess up and give me an error message or something. And I did go ahead and re-unzip the contents of the folder into the War3 folder again, then run the swapper like normal... It brought up TToR. When I exited, it still brings up TToR. I hope I've sufficiently explained my process; I mean, I understand how hard it can be to help someone when one doesn't know what they did. |

If you removed the backup, you cannot get it again, reinstalling ttor didn't help since you have already lost warcraft III's copy. So, you should ask someone to give you his war3patch.mpq, I dunno a friend with bandwidth? Err a physical friend would be much better, your second chance would be reinstalling, accept it you were going to reinstall one day anyway. |

I'll assume I erased the backup. That's odd, though; I still have the four normal ones; it would seem unchanged. Curses, and just when I thought I had gotten all this "mpq" stuff figured out! Well, it shouldn't be a problem to reinstall now; I found the CD-keys for both RoC and TFT, so I'm set. Meh. I almost feel bad, now that my legacy (not reinstalling) is coming to a close. |
