What causes map init lag?

Okay, this is my absolute last hope. Beyond this, I don't know if there's anything I can do.

Okay, in my map, it loads like normal. But once you get in (all the players have loaded), the game literally freezes (goes down to about .1 fps) and sits... and sits... and sits... does something, then sits.... sits.... sits...

The thing is, I didn't change a damn thing in my init triggers that could cause this. I even disabled all of the triggers that run at map init or soon after, and nothing. It still freezes.

So my best conclusion was that its either something on the map or something in it, like object editor data.

So does anyone know what can cause my dilemma?

I've already been trying to fix this for at least 4 hours, so if you aren't going to help, please don't make snide comments, okay?

Bah.

So, in THIS WEEK ALONE, you've spent like, 8 hours on bugs?

Wow.

Is this still on the AOS?

No. This is WPA I'm talking about. The AoS is fine.

Oh.

Now we have a serious issue then, don't we?

Honestly? I have no idea. Sounds like you've tried the logical paths.

Well, assuming nobody knows anything (or what people suggest don't work), I was lucky to find a month-old backup of the map, as well as all the changelogs, and the data in the current version is still good. So, worst come to worst, I'll just have to redo the version, which will be slightly easier since a chunk of it will be cut and paste.

I wonder what caused it though, it would make a great spell in a map I'm making...

Are you testing the map with the vanilla we or with grimoire and war3err running? Those can make a difference to maps, even though they don't seem like it.

To troubleshoot, backup your map and start deleting stuff till the problem either lessens or goes away completely. If you end up with an empty map (triggers/objects/everything) and you still have that issue, then I would go buy a lottery ticket as soon as possible.

NewGen, with Grimoire on and War3err off (since you can't use it w/ patch 1.22). And this isn't a problem on my end; sunwarrior reported insane lag at the beginning of the game.

While that is a possible (albeit timeconsuming), I decided I would just build up from the one-month backup I've found. There actually isn't much to do, and there's a good amount of just copying and pasting.

Was it caused by .22?

Potentially, but I doubt it.

well, if its when its ingame id say its from crazy effects messing with it, check imported models and watnot to see if sumthing is wrong.

There are no imported models.

Well, I "fixed" it, using a combination of methods.

First, I went through the backup and found everything that needed to be changed to bring it up to date and wrote a big changelog, then went into the current version and Copy/pasted all the units, items, abilities, buffs, and codes needed. I imported (most) of it (and all the code), and.... It froze. Nothing happened. So I took Ammorth's advice and started systematically deleting the imported code (i had it narrowed down), and eventually I found the culprit.

However, I say "fixed", because there's still a couple second freeze in the beginning, but I can't seem to fix that, and it's not major nor gamebreaking. So I'm working around it for now.

Case closed.
