His Legacy A world in chaos-team needed Updated 17 / 7 - 08 (Changed the team I want and added to the storyline.)
That's it for the very basic storyline. If you want to see more storyline just PM or email me or something, for there is lots and lots more for me to tell you. Now perhaps it is time I tell you what members I will be needing for the team, I can do some terraining, GUI, object and other editors myself but one man works slower than many. |

One man works far faster than many. You don't need anyone else for general, modelling and skinning isn't needed until later. As for the rest, you won't get good people for such a large project unless you have a proven track record on delivering, or something a hell of a lot more inspirational. 99+% of them fail. |

Well it was I who said wrong then, I presume, one person works faster since he or don't have to wait for and rely on other people to get done before he or she can, however the terrainers can start with map 1 and 2, when those 2 are done they can begin with 3 and 4 etc. Besides I never said it was a large project, I said the storyline was large. |

...you said singleplayer campaign. That says it all. I love single player, and campaigns, but they are hugely time consuming. |

So, what kind of JASS code we talking about? Because at the very least I can do some spell coding and maybe even teach you some JASS (seeing as how you're a GUI-user). I can do slightly more advanced, but I'm no JASSgod. A forewarning, which is probably a bad thing in this situation; I have absolutely no experience with camera manipulation besides turning cinematic mode on/off. |

Captain Griffen, why do you even bother posting here if you do not wish to help me. I would say you got a negative attitude towards people who you consider "noobish". Just because you surely have a better reputation on the forums I still think that both of your posts are TotallyUseless! You basically told me to ditch even the idea to begin a project like this at all. EDIT, darkwulfv posted after me writing the above. darkwulfv, well it is mostly spells I want in jass, most people tell me GUI is okay for campaigns so I guess that will have to work. But like I said, mostly spells. |

Oh goodie. I like spells. Is it just the coding, or do you also need ideas? Cause I can do those too. And actually, Griffo was just saying singleplayer campaigns are a lot of work, and teams a lot of times can slow down work, especially if it's a big team (because then if one person lags behind it can cause knots in production) |

Well ideas are always nice, but mostly the coding I guess. However I thank you deeply for applying, I'll count you in as spell maker in jass then. |

Cool; the easiest way to get this done would be to give me a few spells with their name, descriptions, and data (damage, etc.) (and data for each level), and I'll send you back the code for each one. All you have to do is plug it in and test. You have JassNewGenPack, right? 'Cause I'll be using lite vJass for ease of customization. |

Such projects are a lot of hard work. They require a lot of dedication. We're not talking weeks - we are talking months, at least. Giving you fair warning, and advising you that more people != more work, but normally less (solo projects are completed more often than team efforts), is what you need. It might not be nice, but it's the reality. Good team management can in some cases improve output, but it needs to be handled with care, and sufficient knowledge of all parts of map production. I don't do team projects partly because of how hard they are to manage and co-ordinate. We were all young and ignorant, and many (most?) of us started off wanting to do this great singleplayer campaign/whatever, something way beyond what we could manage at the time, and without any concept of how much work was involved. Almost none of us ever finished them, most didn't come anywhere near. I didn't. Some do - eventually (RDZ's single player RPGs each took over a year to make, for example). If this makes you not want to do it, then that begs the question if you have the commitment. If you think you have the determination and the drive to keep going, even when it gets boring, even when it drives you nuts, go for it - I wish you luck. |

The thing with team projects is that everyone must be in agreement on anything, and if that doesn't happen it can throw things into discord. It's also likely that members will just up and vanish. Just look at Wc3:WoW. If you look at their roster, it's an insanely massive team; but just look at all the names that are noted as ex/inactive members. That means the work could be inconsistant because not everyone's style is the same. I personally, for my projects, have a "team". I build the map all by hand, by myself. Terrain, scripts, objects, etc. However, my "team" provides me with ideas and feedback. For example, for one of my projects, I have someone who pitches me lots of ideas and someone who goes out and finds me models, skins, icons, etc.. |
