Guest | If u just KNOW that you edited the AbilitieData.slk, (race)AbilitieFunc.txt, and (race)AbilitieStrings.txt right. And you have imported them into your map, MPQ, Units folder then make sure you .!!!DO!!! put them in the sub directory Units So it looks like Units\AbilitieData.slk Units\(race)AbilitieFunc.txt Units\(race)AbilitieStrings.txt If you do NOT put them in the Units\ subfolder then you WILL get in the game the notorious " Missing Tooltip " problem. I hope (and think) this will be a big help, cause this was the only thing I didn't understand from the tuturials, nor is it really "clearly" to find in the forums. |

Guest | And I'd like to point a few other things out ..... you do NOT need a spelleditor if you have Microsoft Excel®, in fact I prefer Excel above any currently spelleditor because in the spell editor you can directly look up the data fields like Data21 etc etc. You DO need a mpq program, I recommend WinMPQ cause of its eas of use ( drag and drop ). for all other questions I suggest you read Faranim's Step - By - Step guide to Warcraft III Spell Editing |

Another thing that is important, if you use a non English language version of Warcraft III (like me!), to use the appropriate Local IDs for all *strings.txt files. I'd suggest you to read the article about it on my website. Otherwise they won't be used. Example: You have the german version of Warcraft III (like me). The ID for German is 1031. So all *strings.txt files have to be added with ID 1031 that they show up correctly in the German version. This is also true for all other NON ENGLISH versions of Warcraft III. |
