I was looking through my old Magic The Gathering cards when i came across a certain fungus creature. A humble Thallid. Thallids are fungus creatures, they have no sense of life or death, or morals, they simply 'are'. They are like bonsais, and are as loyal to their creator as their creators are to them. And so i had a map idea: Thallid Gardening. You begin the game as a humble gardener, with a single Thallid seed. From there you grow your pretties and defeat your enemies. Balance expansion, sustainability, attack and defense. There are different types, different upgrades and different terrains to build on. Its pretty fast paced if you look at the numbers and limits, check it out and post critique please! I especially need ways to encourage expansion, maybe control points, ever changing rain storms and pool of water, or having the "Strength in Numbers" nerfed a bit. Ideas welcome! EDIT: does this link work: Clicky! |

I would love to give you ideas, but the link doesn't work for me... it says something like "You aren't allowed access to this page" or something.. |

It is because gorman is trying to direct link to his post without adding the pastebin code or something like that. Use the link in his sig aka this one http://www.wc3campaigns.net/pastebin...c47ddeb04976fe And i really like the idea. |

ah k thx, works now :) Yes, the idea indeed sounds nice, but I'm not yet sure if I understood the gameplay correctly... from what I read, the spores you plant can't move and can only spawn other spores, except when you upgrade them. So, do they turn into movable, fighting creatures when you upgrade them, or how do you get those? Also you should keep a little watch to make it beginner-friendly, it should play by the principle "easy to learn but hard to master". So people enjoy the map the first time they play it, still want to play it again because there is more they want to test/check out. Thus I think you should focus on making the gameplay as intuitive as possible. |

That link bug is a bit strange =S spores can only move when you have Airborn upgrade, and they cant spawn. They are just for upgrading into other Thallids. Thallids can uproot to move around, and kill stuff. Yeah, making it beginner-friendly will be hard, ill try use simple tooltips and generalizations. The gameplay is pretty intuitive right now i think, plants make seeds, seeds grow into plants. The only strange stuff is Fungal counters =P Any other gameplay that could be imrpoved? |

I don't completely understand the concept. I'm a bit slow today, I might reread it another day but yeah... is it just grow things and fight, basically? |

Well it should not be too overcomplex. Although it is based on MTG, you dont really have to use Fungal Counters for simplicity sake do you? |

It just makes it a lot easier to balance it thats all. Plus, it adds the sustainability into it. Otherwise all you do with ur thallids is attack or spawn. Fungal Counters are just like gold or wood. I plan for Gold to be Fungal Counters, Wood to just display the mana being drawn from the tile by the selected Thallid, and Food to display.. something, its undecided. Because i have Food, Spores and Horrors, id rather just have it in your Agility/Intel/Str section in your gardener. I guess i could take out Fungal Counters, but i really like how you get them. And yes, its grow and fight. |
