Well, to start, this is an online play RPG style map. I didn't place 'ORPG' in the title, because I know how that repels everyone around this section of the forum, possibly even leading to a bit of flaming. Because as we all know it, starting map-makers typically want to create a 'Massive, badass, popular ORPG sized 456x456 with EPIC lands, 500 items, 12 heroes with custom models', etc.
Enough of my rant. I've progressed pretty far with this project, working on it solo throughout. I have a custom item system which uses Multiboards to display the various item stats; item models instead of that boring old treasure chest, and hopefully I get the idea to implement a few custom item icons.
Current Progress:- Terrain: 50%
- Heroes / Units: 0%
- Triggers / Scripts: ?% // This is far along, but I can't say the % because I can't predict all the ideas that will come to mind during progression of this map.
- Quests: 1%
As a theory, the third person camera view gets annoying during online play. Therefore, I have not made this feature mandatory, as I am aware that it will make those who don't like the camera style never play or host Oasis of Vaught again. There will be a birds eye, typical camera view, 3rd person, and whatever else comes to mind later on. All are changeable with a simple message input.
The reason I am asking for hero editors is because I absolutely hate the object editor. The reason I created this custom item system was so I didn't have to deal with the object editor.
What I ask for:
- No Hero Glow!
- A group of heroes that if they don't work in groups of 3+, they will barely succeed. Unless they are high level. Even then, they should have trouble with creeps of that heroes level.
- Diversity. I was at least 6 different classes. These are up to you, they may be: Mage, Warrior, Ranger, Paladin, Assassin, Bard, etc.
- Each hero should have it's own race. We will be using the original Warcraft races for this. Undead Mage (Skeletal Mage?), Orc Mage (Witch-Doctor, preferrably. Shaman is a cliche.), Human Mage, etc.
- I would rather not use custom models, as gameplay overcomes graphics within 15 minutes of playing. If custom models weren't so big in KB, they would be perfectly fine. You may include a few custom models, and a few more custom skins, if you want to. Try to keep it limited.
- Unless you Really want to create spells for each hero, also, don't. You can have race specific spells, the each race of the Mage would have that same spell-set, but with different icons & descriptions. Maybe have a little bit of difference in the racial spells, but keeping them mainly the same per race. This makes it a ton easier. Unless you really don't mind.
- Decrease the scaling value of the heroes. If you use units as the hero models, you shouldn't have to decrease it that much, if any. The original size of heroes is already pretty big. Try not to make them too small, though.
More of that may come. I have not written out the story yet, but do have the basics of what happened. Here's the basics, rough-draft:
The undead race has taken control of many outside lands. Few human isolated areas remain, but not many. As the minions of insertdevilrulernamehere spawn, rapidly and never-ending, they savage the lands in search of food, grotesque mating, and most importantly: what's left of the human race.
Upon a distant oasis, only few of the undead have made it their territory. The undead slowly expand amongst this large island, leaving hope for salvation. The founder of this Oasis, The High Wizard, has called upon his brothers in purgatory to save this land. If the heroes may succeed, they will be granted savior, and allowed one more chance. insertdevilrulernamehere made it's way to this Oasis, to take complete rule over it's vast environment. If the heroes find insertdevilrulernamehere, hidden amongst the once living mountains, forests, and sands, may they drive insertdevilrulernamehere away, and bring life back to the Oasis.

P.S.: If this project receives good ratings & grows some online, I may set up a website with it's own .com domain, custom layout, & content pertaining to the project. After this, sequels may begin progress on the map.
That's if the project finishes & grows
