Each player start off in a settlement determined by faction/race. This can vary from great castles to lesser encampments. The main objective is the same for all players, which is basically to destroy the enemies capital building. A capital building is the center for many events such as: gate control, tax rate & hero resurrection. Not to mention that a capital building itself is a source of gold & food production. A capital building is located within a defendsive position. However, that may not be enough to keep your enemies at bay forever. It is crucial that your capital building is kept well-defended at all time. Because once a capital building is destroyed, the player who owned it is instantly defeated. And the player who destroyed it gains control of the defeated players' gold & food production, buildings, units etc. Gold and food are primarily produced from farms (the mob). You can choose how much your people have to pay in taxes - selected from a capital building. You are eligible to choose from:
The higher taxes the less food your farms will produce thus decreasing your armys maximum size. However, there are ways to expand your empire and become greater. The best way is probably to take control over another player's settlement. But there are other alternatives. In the lands of Enroth you will find gold mines, dragon roosts, small "rescueable" villages, savage mercenaries for hire and much more to expand the empire! Players can hire units from the various buildings they control. Some "neutral" buildings have more advanced units at disposal (mercenaries). However, usually you have to defeat the creeps defending it, before you're able to hire such units. And sometimes you have maintain a defensive formation around the building, in order to prevent other players to take control over it and gain the advantage to hire more powerful units. You're able to create teams during gameplay. This is done using the Capital Building. A player can at any time leave a team or invite another player to join. The Hall of Heroes are also used to declare war against other players. |
