In your opinion, would it be better to have... a skin done in a style that'd fit in with Warcraft 3 models? - or - a super special high resolution skin that'd contrast every model around it? |

Id rather have a skin that fits in with whats around it anyday. A skin that contrasts greatly is kinda strange, hard to explain why though.. |

It'd look ugly? |

It would look out of place. Its like a meadow with a purple shrub in the middle. |

deff a model to fit in with other models, cuz high res stands out and looks unreal with all the wc3, and im pretty sure higher res takes more space |

I know you've got talent in the department of WC3-like skinning, but what I'd like to know is if people prefer ultra high resolution skins which are for things like cinematics and beyond or for simple WC3 play. |

Alrighty, I think I've got my opinions... harsh was what I received but I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to be implied. Thanks for the input. |

Each has its place imo. If you're using a super-high-detail skin for a cinematic where the camera is always relatively close and you've got other textures that fit in with it then that's fine. Generally speaking, skins that are too detailed blur to death ingame and tend not to contrast enough (i'm quite guilty of this). Also, they take up a lot more space and in order to make their size acceptable for online play, mappers have to shrink them down and compress them, leading to huge detail loss. For regular zoom level play, you'd want skins that are a) low res b) bright and vibrantly coloured c) strong in contrast |
