The fire was spreading. The flames devoured the forest, turning the once green leaves ashen and wilted. An injured foal was being urged on by its mother, pushing it desperately forward, until the mother was consumed by the crackling flames. A smell of burning flesh and ash and death filled the air. The sunset, yellow-orange, the same color of the flames, had halfway disappeared down a hill in the horizon, and its shape gave the impression of a monstrous beast's eye, and it was laughing. The foal lay in the middle of the blazing fire, covered in ash, terrified, and alone. Remember, your terrain doesn't have to be the description (it never has to be)... Think creatively and/or make an excellent terrain of something whose dominant color is orange. |

You couldn't have picked something with a little bit more fantasy? You could have picked one at random from the brainstorm thread. This thread is sad. |

Er, what? Yes, these few WTs are going to be colors, because I want you to improve terraining in monochrome color. |

So harsh! I'll see what I can come up with! |

muldav, you actually terraining again ? |

Don't forget a PINK one. I was toying with the idea of doing some terrains based on different colors anyway, so I guess I'll stick around for the next few WTs. |

Green, Orange and all the bright colours do make good themes, hell I think pink could also make something awesome, a pink sky and... well that's maybe the only good thing about pink.... But Death, the problem is if you are able to do the one colour right then you shouldn't have any problems with the others, hell you can just use your previous pic and just make it orange :P |

What? yes I think I'm back for a while with War3 map editing / terraining :) |

I have a question do everything actually have to be orange? Or can we use the yellowish doodads? |
| 08-25-2008, 05:38 PM | #13 |
You can use yellowish doodads as long as the overall impression of color is orange. Orange is a mix of yellow and red paint, after all. EDIT: What I just wrote here is what I meant, not monochrome, sorry. |

Think it's like Death said, use your own creativity, maybe just make like a farm with a ton of orange trees :P. the focus is orange not the the picture itself |

I completely agree and support [Death]'s statements above. As I've stated previously, the WT is meant to be an exercise for one to practice their theme, it is not contested, or compared to others. So there wouldn't be much accomplishment in changing the color of last week's terrain unless you're practicing different colors in the same environment, which is one of the main ideas behind these color themes. If you have a problem with boring themes, be creative, anything relating to the theme (in this case the orange) goes. Find a creative twist, as done in previous threads that that include an exercise in only one type of theme. Theoretically, this one is limitless. So if anything, this is expanding your possibilities whilst improving your terraining skills. Also, as questioned earlier, not everything in your terrain must be orange, all it has to do is somehow relate to it. |
