Gold Mines adds a considerable larger amount of gold to your income than any farm.

However, a Gold Mine is well defended. Anyone who tries to take control of it will quickly learn the stubborness of the dwarves (in this example). Who will not give away their beloved mines so easily. But once taken control of, you'll have the opportunity to hire Dwarven units, rebuild the Guard Towers & control the gate.

Keep it well defended, though. As any other player can at any time attempt to take it from you.

There's too much open-ness there.. That and i dont like the top side being uncovered.

I think it's done pretty good though, since this will be a strategic mod, and you can't have large armies fighting in too small spaces everywhere, but the game does look a little like RISK...

Can you only get 'Dwarven Units' through mines? or can you start as Dwarves?
If so will it be easier taking mines if you are a Dwarven Race?

Those are all good questions.
  1. The variety of *gold mines* can vary from lesser to greater.
A *greater* gold mine adds more gold to a player's income and has more units available for hire. While *lesser* gold mines adds a smaller amount of gold to the player in control and dosen't have as many units available compared to a greater.
  2. In the BETA that's hopefully coming out soon; you can't start as dwarfs.
But you will in the final :)
  3. Taking over a mine all depends on strategy.
