Damn guess, I really can't wait for SC2 to come out, but what's going to happen with us cinematic makers? I mean yeah we can make movies that would be more or less like AvP, but I kinda enjoyed making movies on WC3 more, the medieval fantasy realm was waaay more inspiring to make stuff on... Let's face it, when SC2 comes out there won't be much cinema modding going on for WC3... lol there's already barely any cinematic modding ![]() |

I do not recall 'Cinematic' modding ever being popular. |

Wasn't ever popular, but it was awesome to do. |

The problem with cinematics is that people don't play them, they watch them. This limits the size of the fanbase a cinematic map can garner (Directly limiting the number of users willing to put the time forth to make them) simply by virtue of not interesting those users who play a game to, you know, play it. |

Machinima is not restricted to a certain type of game, it's what you call cinematics which were made through game engines and such.... That Machinima right there is not called Machinima... |

"Rather a hardcore handful of devoted cinematic makers instead of a crowd of idiotic, unskilled fans." |

Don't think noone will want to make cines on SC2. There's loads of stuff you can make, and I think the fantasy world is done now. Time to move on :) |

Actually cinematic making was extremely popular a few years ago. Only a few people were doing it. Cinematics were some of the few projects of their popularity that were really completed. It just takes someone with a story to tell to turn wc3 or sc2 into an outlet for their creative vision. |

Yeah time is another big requirement. It helps if you have no friends and spend all afternoon playing the game to begin with. I've been making more movies. My latest is a short western: http://redemptionfilm.wordpress.com/. I've got two more years left of college then I hope to keep doing more of the same. |

I think I'm going to do in SC2 what I did in SC1, campaigns with cinematic interludes. I think it'll be about as popular as it was in Wc3, which is to say moderately so pending the amount of truly dedicated users interested in them. A Blizzard-sponsored contest would help, too. :) |
