I disagree. Idiots would close their threads if they received replies they disagree with and stuff like that.

True I guess... *cough* Cohadar Grim001 *cough*. Maybe there could be a rep-minimum requirement (not for or against that part) or something.

Still, it'd help people mark their "solved" threads. Anyway, if it idiots close their threads because they disagree with stuff, they're just sealing themselves out and locking up their own flow of help - their problem.

It'd be one of those "use responsibly" things.

reminds me of beer... *walks off*.

Anyway i agree with Tide-Arc, but i'll add if they lock their own thread they cant unlock it or post in it, so that they'll be more loath to lock the thread

Yeah, sounds reasonable. Make it perma-lock so that you must think hard before locking it, otherwise you might omit some things regrettably.

The only case where closing a thread actually does something is when people want to reply to it, so this just lets the people cut off potentially useful discussions? Great..

It's in the situations where one doesn't want to flaming, thread resurrection or to signal that they've had something completed.

That's the reason mods exist.

Are mods REALLY willing to lock threads 24/7 and cater to every single member's request...?

What else are they good for?

I don't lock threads, honestly.

Not even silly revivals unless they get out of hand.

Well, sometimes there needs to be a higher authority opinion who's willing to give a neutral point of view when things are happening, e.g. telling people to stop a flamewar.

If you close one thread in the mornings everyday, it fulfills your life and makes you a better human being.... really, that's the reason why Pyro is a disgrace... :P

Seriously, this is not the Hive man, there you have to do this at least once a day, and not only close but delete them so we don't notice their user failures. If all the users have this privilege, abuse of this will be a normal situation that mods will have to deal without any need.

Yes, but it's not funny... it's much better to put the last word and close the thread, that's simply epic.

Point taken... it'd instigate flame-strikes instead of wars.
