Adding negative values to spells

Hey,

I want a shield or a certain other item to be more realistic by adding negative values to it.

For example when you wear a shield item it will give + 5 armor but it will give -3 agility (since a shield is heavy so your agility will go downwards)

I tried adding an item ability that originally was +1 agility bonus and tried to make it negative, to -3 agility bonus, but for some reason, even if i go to preferences and click allow negative values in object editor or hold shift and try to make it negative (or combined) it doesnt work. Hope someone has a clue on how to make items can have negative item bonusses.

Thanks

You can't have negative stat (str/int/agi) bonuses. Not that I ever managed to find, anyway.

Wait, really? Hmm... I coulda sworn I read something about that in the "Warcraft 3 Ability Guide" (or the "Weird" one...). Check those out, just to make sure (although Griffen is usually right).

its possible to add negative stat bonus, but not every ability can do it.

Check them all.

Just base it one 1 of those item abilitys that gives +1/5/10 stats and make it negative. Works perfect fine, just tested it.

You tested it with agi/str/int?

Tried with agi and int and str again and it worked on both hero ability and item ability and gave the exact negative numbers.

I knew this was possible, I've seen it done a multitude of times.

The second thing you can do is hold Shift+Enter while you enter in negative values. It's an insurance if you aren't sure if the Preferences work for a certain ability.

Is this like new for most people here? I thought people never used negative values on abilitys/items cause because the players hate it.

It is news, because it didn't used to be possible. At some point Blizzard must have decided to add that possibility, and then they didn't feel like documenting that...

I can confirm that. I used them in something which I was doing about... 3+ years or so ago.

I can remember it didn't work for me back in 2003. It's possible that it doesn't work if it is on an item, but does when added to the unit directly.

I remember playing a hero defense with such items that give negative bonuses.
Its quite an old map so its probabbly abusable for quite a while.

So for once Captain Griffs sig proves to be wrong.
No offence intended.
