Plague Zombie
Skin and Icons

This is an unfortunate victim of the Undead plague, its simple garments now soiled with pus and bearing boils bulbous as its vacant eyes.

Skin path: units\creeps\zombie\ZombieA.blp
Icon paths:
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNZombie.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNZombie.blp

Zip includes Zombie skin, its BTN and DISBTN icons, and a text with texture paths & credits.
Demo map contains extra skins, icons, and other silly things.

Ignoring the fact that you failed to include in your first post the unwrap and the icons apparently inherent to the testmap, I can't possibly see this passing into the database with the quality... Or lack thereof... In the texture. Is that really an in-game screenshot? It looks like a green-splattered, normal zombie texture..

I must concede, on reflection, you're correct. The texture is lackluster. I'm attempting to think of a solution. It may help if I were to increase the resolution, and if this were enough to compensate for the unpleasant model.

But I think I'll scrap this instead. It may be more effective to zombify some villagers.

You should paint your textures, not paint over the originals. That's the step you need to reach currently. :)

Hm. Interesting proposal. I shall have to try it, at least.

Now, if you reskinned a villager to be a plagued zombie....

I feel that what this needs, more than anything else, is some originality. Giving the zombie the villager's clothes just seems unnecessary as the standard zombie texture would probably suffice in most cases.
Go on, do something revolutionary with the concept. Thrill me :)

You're also quite right, the zombie is a wretched model and increasing the resolution may not be the best answer. I can't say much for the critter villagers either, maybe the Peasant or heck, even the highelf/bloodelf workers might be worth a shot.

Villager was my second choice, but your other suggestions are good, too.

I think I'll zombify all of the suggestions and release them as a pack.

Focus on quality, not quantity. Trust me, it matters.

Of course. My cordless mouse doesn't work well with Photoshop and so it takes a while to get anything done. Wish I had a drawingpad.

At minimum, I'll be zombifying a male villager, a female villager, a child villager, and a peasant. I need these for a project, anyway.

Good news. I'm getting a graphics tablet for my work: Uc-logic 3d Graphics 8x6 USB Drawing Tablet.

My girlfriend would kill me if I spent over $700 on a tablet before I get a new car.

It's only 300ish dollars American, so it's really not that bad. Certainly worth it. Anyways, gonna move this over to WIP textures for some more feedback and so forth.
