I have been working this map on my own for a long time now. Ive completed many of the basics, but the biggest problem im having is determination, i simply cant stay focused on it for any great deal of time, dispite the many ideas I have for it.

One of the reasons for this is that im doing everything on my own. This can make it difficult when i know i have to do so much and i stop even wanting to do it because of all the things that need to get done.

Dont mistake, i love making maps and especially this one, but it can get wearing knowing i have to do everything before anyone appreciates anything ive done...

The basics of this map are simple, i havnt seen many like this and had always thought Blizzards systems allowed so much for these kinds of maps it was a waste not to make one.

The map is a DUNGEON CRAWLER, the point of the map is to, with a team of four other heroes and racing against another team of five heroes, defeat bosses and obsticles all the way to the last boss.

The selection of heroes is planned to be vast, and is already very fleshed out and varied, with several heroes completly customized (models, abilities, play styles) and ready to use.

i have completed the first half of the (admittedly massive) west side of the dungeon (editing is always needed, of course) but i am having trouble discovering new and interesting ways to progress and build the dungeon.

the backstory of the game is what got me interested and thinking on the idea. The dungeon is the Black Citadel from the Human (Bloodelf) campaign of The Frozen Throne. The point is to destroy the tyrant of the Citadel (Magtheridon) and take his hoarded wealth. Of course, another group of heroes is progressing through the Citadel on the other side, and if you dont get to Magtheridon first, you wont get any lootzz....

I really need help with all of the various aspects of this map, especially terraining the dungeon (The dungeon looks good, but i am hardly an expert terrainer and would like someone with more experience and ability to work on it. Both to make it look better and to take care of the dungeon creation process so i can focus on the other things), design of the dungeon (mob placement, obstacles, boss fights/rooms) and help with the RPG elements (Items, hero models, starting town design, etc;)

I want to keep the team relatively small, but if you are interested and any good at any of these things do speak up

You should really link the link from your sig to this, I was reading half way and I'm like what the hell is he talking about? Will reply in that thread later.

EDIT: Gah nvm that's an old thread.

Holy crap, I was working on the exact same idea last week! (but then I went back to my AVP project) Mine was based on the catacombs beneath Northshire Abbey, from the First War.

Well, count me in then! I can help with hero designs (will send you one of my demo maps so you get a feel for my style), and have some cool dungeon ideas to share - traps, containers, multiple levels of dungeon, interactive weather effects, etc. Do you have a test map available for download?

Yes, and? Mod making is wearing. People expect you to have done something before they appreciate it, and, if they don't know you (and normally even then), that means you must have done a lot.

The reason you find it difficult is likely not that you are on your own, but because mod making is a lot of hard, grueling work. You've not yet accepted that, and that alone is likely to make your projects always fail until you do. I'd suggest reading the guide to mod making that Vex posted in OT.

I get what your saying. I know alot of people just dont want to do the work that modding requires. However, i assure you, work is not the problem.

Im no fan of hard work, but im devoted to my interests, and WC3 modding is a big interest. Im very much an extravert, i love people, and i really love working on something im interested in with other people who are interested in it. If i knew what needed to be done specifically, no matter the amount of work, id be willing to do it. Its that no one cares at all.

i do get that people wont want to put time into something that probably (as far as experience has taught them) isnt worth it. So ill hardly be upset if no one really gives a cow, ill keep doing it on my own and finish it, but its always nice to have some help and friends when doing something.

I also want to... be open? to people who enjoy map modding but perhaps havnt the drive to do it on their own, cant find something they particularily want to do or just really want to be part of someone elses project.
