First let me start off by saying that I don't know if this falls under 'general development' or not but the purpose for this thread is for input on whether my idea for a map is:
1. Not already been done
2. Creative in anyway
3. If anyone would play it
4. Realistically possible to make
So just keep in mind that I am planning to make this map but as of yet it is at Stage 0 if there was such a stage in the map making process...

The Unsung Heroes' Chronicles
Chapter 1 Peasants
General Concept - The concept behind this map is to glorify the most under appreciated units in Warcraft, this map just primarily focuses on the Peasant. Harvester, builder, repairman, he's a jack of all trades. I'm trying to build a game centered around all of his abilities in each field while at the same time try to tell a story of how the bottom guy can move up in life. The background story is easy enough, your a peasant wondering into one of the largest human colonies this side of Lordaeron. Having no previous experience you acquire an entry level job doing less than desirable work with hopes for promotion. The rest of the story is left up to the player to determine how it continues.
Game-Play - The game style for this game will be most easily classified as an open RPG but don't let it's reputation ruin the image I'm painting here. The human settlement that the map is centered around is comprised of one enormously large castle, 3 keeps, and 9 towns. Each town has a different contribution to the settlement as a whole and thus their jobs available are unique to each town (for the most part). From the North the settlement defends off the Night Elves, west - Orcs, south - Undeads, and the east is filled with open land for settlement.... just needs some removal of it's current residents being various creeps. The goal of the human settlement as a whole is to wipe out all opponents and expand to it's fullest extent. Your personal goal is whatever you want it to be, though it's probably to make it to the top. So going back to the jobs, as an entry level peasant you need to build up some experience is a particular field and move up in that job category. Some job categories overlap a little bit so there is more than one path that helps you reach your final destination. I was going to give an example of how one path might be made but I figured it would be best to lay out a brief job tier outline:
Entry Level Jobs:
Strength -
Lumber Jack - Cutting down and carrying stacks of lumber to
designated lumber mill.
Gold Miner - Chizzle gold from the mine and bring it back to the
weigh station.
Stone Quarry Worker - Harvest building blocks and bring it to your
dwarven supervisor for inspection.
Agility -
Repair Man - Repair any building/mechanical unit in your area that
needs attending to.
Lumber Jack - Cutting down and carrying stacks of lumber to
designated lumber mill.
Special Assignment Unit 1 - Get an extra signing up bonus then await
what orders your supervisor gives you..(Survival rate = slim)
Intelligence -
Town Builder - Build basic living quarters for the towns people
Farmer (Corn) - Farm corn...
Town Hall Representative - Get citizens to sign petitions and vote on
various issues involving your town.
Altar Boy - Refill the Holy water and watch your bum!.

As you can see each town has a specific attribute next to it. This will be your main focus as you progress through the game and acquire different jobs.
Tier 1 Jobs:
Footman - Fight for the good of the Kingdom! Req. any entry level
ob in agl. or str. fields. Possible job opportunities include: Footman
(Scout), Footman (Defense), Footman (Offense).
Trader: Req. Gold mining exp. or Stone quarry exp. or lumberjack
exp. Possible job opportunities include: Marketplace representative, long
distance trader, and arcane vault night stocker.
Tool Smith: Build basic tools including those used in gathering and
Iron forged weaponry. Req. Repairman. Possible Job opportunities include
steel weapon smith, and item smith.
Commercial Builder - Build commercial buildings such as potion shops,
marketplaces, farms. Req. Town Builder. Possible job opportunities include
tower builder lvl 1, and military buildings lvl 1.
Town Council - Determine town ordnances and sales tax for your
town. Also do favors for Town Keep Council to get some browning points.
Req. Town Hall Representative. Possible job opportunities include Human
representative on Board of Alliances, Town Keep Council and Hero Scout
(Kinda like a Scout for baseball but for heroes to employ for your town).
Special Assignment Unit 2 - (Survival rate = anorexic). Req. Secial
Assignment Unit 1. Possible job opportunities include Special Assignment
Unit 3.
Farmer (Pig) - Get your poop shovel out! Req. Farmer (Corn).
Possible Job opportunities include Industrial Farmer, and Domestic Animal
training lvl 1.
Assembly Line - Help put together steam tanks, and flying machines.
Req. Repair man. Possible job opportunites include steam tank operator 1,
flying machine operator 1.
Holy Man - Assistant in daily prays and begin your priesthood
training. Req. Altar boy. Possible job opportunities include priest level 1.

I'm making each job fun to do and it's hardly what they probably seem to be. Such as building a farm requires you to get 5 wood stock, 4 stone columns and 2 child laborers to complete one building. This is just one example of how 1 job is completed. I can be more descriptive if needed but I'm looking for any feedback you want to throw my direction. Thanks in advance.

Haha, I doubt that Unsung Legends will ever be revived :)

And about the map, I like the concept, go for it.
