I'll add other races once they're more complete.

Please, give me ideas.

Note - I need modellers! I need a Hobgoblin model. I will love you forever if you help me out :)

The presentation of your post aside, wich isnt verry nice, the techtree looks quite nice for a goblin race. Theres some things in there that just make me think "yes ofcourse goblins would do that!". Especially the self-destruct on buildings, the gathering of scrap metal, a mecha-healer... Its all there.

Thanks a lot! I was worried some of my stuff wasn't unique enough. And I know, I'm not that great at presenting it. And the mech heal I stole from Kyrbi0. I'll go try to change it so its presented better.

Sorry for the Double Post

Ok, this trigger isn't working, and I don't know why. I'm very bad with triggers. I'm using the melee initialization trigger, so I need to add two Shredders to the Goblins starting units.
Trigger:
Collapse Events
Player - Player 1 (Red)'s Total gold gathered becomes Equal to 0.00
Collapse Conditions
(Race of (Triggering player)) Equal to Orc
Collapse Actions
Unit - Create 2 Shredder for (Triggering player) at ((Triggering player) start location) facing Default building facing degrees
Ok, I have this trigger for each player.

What am I doing wrong?
10-08-2008, 02:34 AM#5
Anopob
A lot. First of all, Player Red's total gold gather doesn't become 0, because it STARTS there (and therefore doesn't detect the event). Why don't you just either remove the melee initialization trigger, change the beginning units, or goddam use the map initialization event?
10-08-2008, 03:05 AM#6
wc3shady
I'll try it, thanks. And yeah, I'm really bad with triggers, this is one of my first times figuring them out.
Hey, can you help me with another trigger?
I have two abilities, named Sell 100 Gold/Wood. They are based off berserk.

Now the effect is triggered, but it does not work. Take a look plz

Sell Wood
Trigger:
Collapse Events
Unit - A unit owned by Player 1 (Red) Finishes casting an ability
Collapse Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Sell 100 Wood
((Triggering player) Current lumber) Equal to (99 + (Random integer number between 1 and 1000000000))
Collapse Actions
Player - Add 100 to (Triggering player) Current gold
Player - Add -100 to (Triggering player) Current lumber
I have one of these triggers for each player

Sell Gold
Trigger:
Collapse Events
Unit - A unit owned by Player 1 (Red) Finishes casting an ability
Collapse Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Sell 100 Gold
((Triggering player) Current gold) Equal to (99 + (Random integer number between 1 and 1000000000))
Collapse Actions
Player - Add 100 to (Triggering player) Current lumber
Player - Add -100 to (Triggering player) Current gold
I have one of these triggers for each player

Please help!
10-08-2008, 07:14 PM#7
Askhati
Aargh... You don't need to do one for each player, you simply detect the casting of the ability and then use (Owner of casting unit) to get the necessary player.

Secondly, a unit can't have two abilities made on the same 'base' ability (Berserk in your case), since it has a horrible tendency to mess things up. Use Berserk, and Roar as an alternative.

Also, there are already Exchange abilities that swap gold and lumber. Look them up under the neutral ability lists, and work from there.
10-08-2008, 07:15 PM#8
wc3shady
Oh, ok thanks a lot. I'll go try that. (it worked thx :) !

EDIT

UPDATE!

Ok the Goblins T1 is pretty much done, T2 is almost done, and T3 has only a little work done.

UPDATE 2!

Ok I've been working my ass off and the Goblins are pretty much finished except I haven't started the heroes whatsoever. Eventually, once the project is finished, maybe I'll try to learn to make AIs/Get an AI maker to help. But for now,

I need hero help!

I'm thinking I should have:

Trade Prince (How could you have a goblin race without one?)
Master Alchemist (I really want to make use of the goblin riding the ogre)
Mechgineer Suit (A good strength hero, a Goblin in a power suit sorta thing, like the last boss of Gnomeregan for wow players)
Bishop of Boom (Im not sure I like the name, but I need an explosives guy)

Sorry to double post, but I have some stuff to add.

First, I have done a ton of work on it today, on the Goblin part of the first post theres a sort of messy thing I did for the techtree on Paint.net, and they're nearly finished! I'm still thinking of changing names or whatever here and there, I need to do major updates to the techtree I posted here, but for now heres some ideas on the heroes.

Trade Prince: All I got is one ability.

Greed - It's like an aura with a buffed up version of pillage.

Master Alchemist: I got a first idea on what his abilities will be like. He's all about chance.

Test Subjects - The Master Alchemist summons Test Subjects, who have the ability to Drink Mixture, which either turns them into a Hobgoblin, or explode.
Possibly Lethal Injection - The Master Alchemist injects a needle into his ogre, which either deals damage to himself, or increases movement speed and attack speed extremely.

Mix Concotions - The Master Alchemist mixes random potions from his backpack, which can either increases attack damage to him and all nearby allies, or blow up in his and everyone else around hims faces.

ULT Vial of Question - The Master Alchemist throws Vial of Question at an enemy unit, which either empowers him (10% chance), turns him into a powerful creep (20% chance), makes him kaboom (30% chance), or converts him to become your ally. (40% chance)

I need some good feedback on this guy.

I have no ideas for my Demolitionist or Mechgineer Suit yet.

Alchemist sounds great, love those abilities! Kyrbi0 and I are currently discussing the Trade Prince, so look in at our thread and join the brainstorm.

Hey, awexome! I'm glad my topic could be a springboard for your project! (Also, I'm envious that you have the time to sit and make 90% of the Goblin stuff :P)

~~~
I'm not sure if it's rude to ask this, but after reading this:
I'm starting to understand how Handclaw feels/felt when I used many of his ideas (even with permission). So I'm glad you credited me; I'm just trying to decide if I should ask you to put a little " * " (or something) by anything from me...
Anyway, good job.
Oh yeah that's not rude at all. I've been pretty sick this last week, so I was able to just sit on warcraft all day. And yeah, I got some good inspiration from your project. I'll put you in the contributors list. Is the Mech Repair the only thing I used?
And yeah, I might give you some ideas ashkati.
Yeah, if possible, just put an asterisk next to stuff you have borrowed.
Dude, I would totally suggest doing something like this:
For your "Contributers" list. I mean, it says "contributers", but it actually seems to be just the modellers (since I'm not on there :P). But this way, it's organized, and easy to read.
Since you're new, I can't expect you to be a vB code whizzard yet, so I guess I can give you the raw template...
Yeah, I'll do that. I'm pretty new to these forums, although I've used resources numerous times just messing around. I just registered because this is my first "committed" project. Also, I haven't been able to do much on the map for a few days, but I have time now. There will probably be an update tomorrow, unless something comes up.
For your Tradeprince you could perhaps have 'Haggle' as an ability: The Tradeprince lowers the price of a selected unit being trained / mercenaries / items by haggling. at level one, he lowers it by 5 - 7% at level two, by 8 - 10% and at level 3, 11 - 13%
