The Frostlord

Greetings,

Well, it's been awhile and my retired status continues.. here and there every now and then I make a model for my private collection. I have a small melee arena map that i've loaded with unique heroes, and im kinda bent on cramming more heroes without blowing up the map filesize. Having said this a while ago I decided to make a nemesis for the Firelord. And hence my Frostlord was Born.

"Oh no! another skin recolor and chop up!" you say.. but nay this model isnt based of the Firelord, This model is built up using, thats right.. ingame textures, painfully long hours ensuring to remap them, Looking at Ahune and Ragnaros and seeing what I could base of of them. And Finaly Stole some pieces from Firelords armor but hey even so they are no Identical.

Bets of all the model itself is only 93K.. not even 1/8th of the Firelords file size. So for you space saving lover out there; this is mapsize friendly. I've included a missile file for the frost lord as well as both Enabled and Disabled Icons.

You could expect more, I guess but to what I was trying to do.. I think it's worth sharing.

Your fellow, modder.
SinisterX

P.S
Model Itself is slightly smaller than the firelord, so I scaled him up to 1.40, so they would have equall size.

Wow... this is as good as Jig's lightning elemental. Now we just need an earth one for the full set...

No, but seriously, this is good stuff.

I agree with Shade987, we need some ultimate "Earthlord"! As for this model, I think it's awesome! +rep

Not to be pushy, but what about making a Frostling model... in the sense of that Lava Spawn thingo. That'd be freaking awesome to go with this.

I was rather excited until I realised you based it off the Shade.

It's nicely done, but I don't think that animation set has the panache to carry it off. I can understand why you'd choose this course of action, though.

I can't check, but this does have a full animation set right? Being based off the shade means it may not have an attack animation, which would be saddening.

It looks kind of cool, though I really think the armor on the shoulders looks messy and doesn't match. It would've been way cooler if you'd used the revenant-style armor there, would've fit better.

Oh wait, not shade, Voidwalker. Same difference.

This should still use the Firelord animation set as opposed to the voidwalker. The voidwalker's animations are totally unsuitable for a hero.

Wow, nice model! +Rep. But, there is already a Frostlord model! I know they doesn't even resemble each other, but i am just saying.

It does have attack animations and channeling animations. Infact the Atack and Normal spell throw are the same as done in other older WC3 models, the Spell animation was rigged into the Stand Channel Animation. As far as keeping current Voidwalker animations, I think 1)- Makes him move diferently from the Firelord (Since I didnt want an almost exact copy). 2)- The most important factor, Animations make up the bulk of the model's file size. The goal here is to make a Hero Unit with using the least amount of resources, transfering firelord animations was something I would not do for the reasons stated above.

Aside from that ofcourse, you modders out there are free to modify this whichever way you want. ;)
