Disable Auto Attacking

Is there a way to allow a unit to attack when ordered, but not on their own, aside form setting them to worker class? I want other units owned by the same polayer to auto-attack, but I want to single one out and stop it.

Thanks!

Remove the attack ability with a orc burrow ability and replace this with a dummy ability with the attack icon which deals damage... With this you can trigger totally the damage as a bonus :)

I'll require an example map to fully understand this, but thank's for the speedy reply.

Also, sorry I didn't mention this before, but it needs to be able to attack ground, too.

You can add a permanent invisibility ability with -1 fade time and auto-acquire set to false.

That woudl work if I wanted to make no units attack without being told; I only want to disable one unit's ability to use auto.

Just add said ability with triggers to that unit.

For what you describe yourself as wanting to do, adding the worker class at runtime will accomplish that perfectly.

The problem is workers show busy buttons.

Right, but as Dusk said, adding it with a trigger is the way to go. I'm pretty sure a tutorial on this forum mentioned that adding it with a trigger causes the Idle Worker button to never show up.

Adding the perma-invis trick with a trigger is also a good choice if for some reason adding worker classification via a trigger can't be done.

Adding worker classification does not show the idle worker shizzle, but it will retaliate I think if attacked.

Yep, worker classification will prevent the unit from attacking. And it won't retaliate, it will run away instead when attacled.

Oh cool, I didn't know that.

Also, for the purposes of this thread, you could try setting the unit's Acquisition Range to 0. Not sure that would work, though, and I think you wanted to be setting it during gameplay, like for a spell. Meh.

Fail spelling, Pyrogasm. :P

Besides, it was only 2 months; I've done seen much worse.
