Basically this is the teaser trailer of a map i've been working on for quite some time. It's a combination of Counter Strike Source gameplay with elements from NOX for whoever played it, and some from the upcoming diablo 3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHt56dl8LcI What is Magic & Steel? Long ago, warriors and wizards fought the Keeper of the Underworld. Now warriors seek to destroy all magic, claiming it to be the Keeper's doing, while wizards fight for their right to exist. Be the Magic against Steel, or the Steel against Magic. Gameplay Magic and Steel is a fast game based on the concept of Counter Strike: Source. You pick your character, either from the Steel side which includes a Warrior or a Barbarian (More to come), or the Magic side which includes the Witch Doctor or the Wizard. You vote for an arena and then the number of rounds. You buy items accordingly at the beginning, and the goal is to kill off every player from the other side. Every kill gives you money and then you can buy more advanced stuff for the next round. Features - Fast-Paced Gameplay: No more boring stuff! Even a 1-on-1 experience can be total chaos! - Advanced Item System: There is only one shop per side. The items you buy will change according to your class! - Custom Sound Effects: Sound effects gives the game a new feeling and makes it more alive. - Unique Ability Casting: Every class has its own way of learning new skills and advancing in them. For example, Wizards need to buy spell books to get spells. Once you click on a spellbook in your inventory, you get new abilities. Warriors on the other hand will learn skills during combat, depending on HOW YOU PLAY! If you support your team, you will get skills that focus on team aiding, if you like to slay creeps around, you will get skills that focus on killing multiple groups, ETC! You will level skills up by using that skill to kill enemies, the more you kill the more you will automatically level up! - Stamina System: Will change the gameplay and exhaust your character while attacking or using abilities. - Convenient Attack System: Pressing "A" will swing your sword or staff or knife, and hit anyone who is facing you. This gives you more a DIABLO kind of feeling to it! - Custom User Interface: Magnificent custom made icons and a user interface makes the game unique more then ever. |

The gameplay looks like it should be fun but.... yay for just another abuser of Requiem For A Tower... But yeah, gameplay looks like it should be fun. |

Hmm, Requiem for a Tower? I don't get it. If that's supposed to be a map, I don't know that map. The concept was actually from the Sword of Truth series if you have read the book. |

OH, yes.. It's a bit overly used, I agree, but the point was to demonstrate some spells. ;) |

Shit trailer, but the map seems okay and I like the /s/fx. Could sure turn out to be something cool. |

Shit trailer? That is sure a constructive comment. The majority seems to love it in 3 other forums I posted it, the usual comment was "WOW" but that's your opinion. I'd be more happy if you could suffice with "I didn't like the trailer" then "Shit trailer". |

It's poorly made (terrain sucks, there's nothing vaguely interesting about it etc) , poorly edited (didn't sync with the music for one also just used the same font for everything) and MY FUCKING GOD STOP USING THAT MUSIC. As for those other peeps I don't know maybe they're excited because they just haven't seen that many trailers. Look, I said your map seems okay what more do you want? |

Trailers for maps are silly anyways, they classically fault in that they reveal virtually nothing about how the map actually plays and too much about "good versus evil." Anyways, looks okay. I'll wait until a release of some sort before I say anything concrete. I'll say this, though, I genuinely find the map's name uninspired and silly. Otherwise, good luck to you in your map's development. |

I respect one's right to an opinion, but please, emjlr, if you have a problem with the site, either post it in the proper section or keep it to yourself. Do not derail the thread, and any further attempt to do so will result in punishment. Seruk, you be nice. Vile, it takes two to tango, just ignore it. The quality of the trailer is questionable for many reasons. First of all, the trailer really shows nothing about the gameplay or the genre of the game. Strictly from the trailer, I would've never guessed that the gameplay was based on CS:S. Additionally, I cannot comment on the sound as I have none, but it would appear that it was not coordinated to the actions of the units and text very well. The terrain in its current state is not very detailed, impressive, nor diverse. It seems like it needs a lot of work, though that is certainly not a priority, I understand. Additionally, it really didn't convey any emotions of epicness or tension, the choreography could have used some work in order to give the right effect. In a more objective regard, I really don't like the idea of having trailers for WC3 maps. You'd be much better off just posting screenshots and explaining them for the general populace. It'd be more productive and be more widely followed and understood. Anyways, cheers. |

I don't really take it personally, I understand that some of you may have some bad history with me. Seems like a fresh start isn't possible around here. But taking it out on an idea that I have is really childish. But anyways.. I'll leave it at that.. I'm not going to step down to that level. I'll let yourselves look at your own posts and maybe someday you'll realize who looks bad here, me, or you guys. Quote:
As for the sync, it syncs perfectly, perhaps it's because of the low quality that youtube converts it to that it gives problems. Other then that.. just wanted to share my stuff. I'll be back when the map is ready, and I'm not afraid of your "constructive" criticism. ;) Peace. |

But yeah, how long until the actual game is released? I'd like to give it a go some time. |

Don't worry Tide-Arc, i'll make a SPECIAL version just for the likes of you, you'll know when it's out by visiting your regular forum, wc3-4-dummies.net :) Seriously though, I have no idea, I'm starting a new job as a computer tech and it requires alot of work hours, I estimate around 2 months or 3 for the most. |

It's true, YouTube is known for de-synching sound; but when I watched, I heard no issues there so it could just be y'all and your pansy computers. |
