Why doesn't anybody like ET2?

Ok, I'm exaggerating, but it seems that ET1 is still hosted more often than ET2. And when i say that I like ET2, people seem to shun me. Is it the extra content? Not enough old maps? I'm confused and I request enlightenment.

ET2 started out pretty good but good fucked up more and more along the way. I liked it at first but not anylonger.

ET2 = Over complicated

It doesn't have the same streamlining... I'd call it not as polished. It could also be that a lot of people played ET1 on a semiprofessional level, and they were used to the old mechanics. For example, a lot of the old grenade bounces don't work, and improvised ones go farther then you intend them... for me.

ET1 was more skill based, and ET2 sort of levels the playing field a bit.

I still think that attaching more range to the acid gun in hella sick, and fun :D

ET2 was too item-focused, simple. ET2 would have worked it used the same forumala which includes:
- More interesting/involved stages
- New Guns
- Improvements on balance
- Maybe a new mechanic which would add a new dynamic of combat but not make guns obsolete like the new one sort of did
- Maybe a melee attack but this might be too easy-mode (Think Chainsaw in Gears of War 1 & 2).
- Maybe a way to make grenades more skillful to use such as adding a wind mechanic into the game so that the way the grenade move

The complexity (of which there was little) didn't kill it, just made it less welcoming to players.

Most of the things that you've suggested have either already been done, or don't really work so well. You could say that ET2 brings the first three to the table. I don't know what you mean by the fourth. The fifth would.. detract from the game. Imagine chainsaw rushers. All they do is run at you, and if they get too close, you die. The sixth (in my opinion) makes the art of grenade throwing (which already has a lot to it) significantly more complicated (and annoying to use), despite being easy to manifest in the engine.
