Do you have GIMP? You might be able to get back to skinnin' on that :) You already know what I'm going to say about these: needz moar freehand. |

These are WIP textures if anything; I'm moving them out of the gallery. |

GIMP? Hmm... Not sure. Either way, I generally prefer models to skins. Sure, they may take up a lot more KB's and tend to be buggier, but skins to me rarely make the result that much different. For my purposes (of course, no offense AR; I have been proved wrong many times by your work :P) And yes, it absolutely (would generally) need more freehand. But for me, I wasn't heavily-modifying the Naga in general; just needed some variations to tell them apart. So only basic recolors were required. However, if anybody wants these (can't imagine why), to use or modify, just ask. ~~~ Oops, sorry Dusk. Didn't really know where to put it, so I guessed the Gallery. |

And actually I did the skin for the Venom Warrior..credits to me sir |

^Absolutely. But where? I'm not really using it (at least, not right now...) --NOT EDIT-- Oh, duh, in the first post. Tight. |

Hardly enough work, you sir need to lay off on the recolouring and maybe listen to this Red Hyena if ya wanna that is of course ;). The key to texturing with creativity is not to simply make it have a different colour and change its weapon. People crave for a change in concept and how the grace of how people can manipulate and utilize certain object with limits. Pretend you are trying to reface a completely new unit! Make it look new, try to work out the limitations and try to fool your watchers. Amaze them by utilizing new concepts and ideas that fools them into thinking you have broken the limitations of your evil texture >: (. I mean, what i tried to experiment with is trying to make a tauren into a werewolf, trying to make a salamaner/kodo into a mandrill baboon. Try to find how you can manipulate your things and poor your creativity in. The key here isnt about adding like, armour, or a new weapon. You gotta think deeper than that mate. Try to add a new facial structure, new scale structure, dont think about colour swapping and weapon swapping, think about a completely new character. annndd..so forth.. *scampers off* |

Wow, Werewulf came back to reply @ me. :P ~~~ Ok, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer, and to make such a long post at that. However, I neither have the time, tools, nor even the motivation to skin. First of all, I'm not an artist. Really. While I find it easier to explain with pictures rather than words at times, I don't have a lot of... "talent" in that area, shall we say. Drawing, coloring, shading, all of that. Moreover, you may say "well then, you just need to work harder". But also, it's just not something I'm interested in. Like, I'm also no good at ice skating, or playing the bagpipes, or surgery. But I don't particularly want to get any better at those things. (except for playing the bagpipes; that would be freakin' awexome! :P). So I understand where you're coming from, but the only thing I needed were recolors and weapon-changes. I was/am working on a Naga race, after all; I have no need for a mandrill baboon. :P |

And you also need to do more work than do a few recolors..and CnPs If that wasn't stated enough before? |
| 11-04-2008, 03:07 AM | #10 |
^No, it was most certainly stated... Many times... :P My only question is, even if I wanted or was capable of doing more work on them, in what way could I "freehand" it and keep it still Naga (because various Naga was really all I needed). I mean, custom-drawn scales?? |
| 11-04-2008, 03:29 AM | #11 |
yes. It is possible to create a brush in PS using a sample from the scales. And yeah, little touches like unique features, facial expressions, armor/jewelery, markings, colour combinations and other stuff like that. |

Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry, don't take this as me ignoring you, but this is rather low on my list of priorities (esp. with my relative 'inability'). If anybody wants them, I would be happy to purvey them (though I can't imagine why...), but there's no need to further SCHOOL'd me on various art techniques... I'm just not an artist. :P |

It's cool, dude - I understand. Just know that if the mood ever takes you to download GIMP (it's free!) and try more texturing, we'll be on hand to help out :) Here, I'll save you some concern - this is the link to the site http://www.gimp.org/. I've got a funny feeling that typing the word Gimp into Google might elicit some unsettling results :P |
