Silence Items?

Standard silence ability does not seem to silence items no matter what options I use.
Is there some other ability that can do this?

Ok I found out doom can do this.
Is there an AOE version of doom?

No, there is not. Also, when using doom, be careful with some of the byproducts it has such as making the unit leave no corpse on death.
