HERO CREATION CONTEST #3

ALTAR SERIES

Looking back in time, the first and second hero contests were quite successful, each bringing in loads of entries and a tough finale. But what did both of those contests have in common? They both asked you to create a hero that would fit as the last hero in the melee tavern. Well this time we're going to be playing a different game, let's see you make a hero that would fit into one of the race's altars! Stop by the threads and either join in the contest or support those who do! Your opinion counts, as it always does, so let's see some community involvement!

I don't know about this .... I don't think I am going to win anything at the Olympics, and having in mind this will be more difficult by far I don't think if it is worth it .... besides with so many pros such as Pyro going in I really don't know ...

Anyway, the theme is undead or we can choose any race we want ?? (I am asking because of the UD dreadlord =P ).

ABout the models, do we have to create them or can we enter with a model from the game ?

Oh, and Pyro, I am almost catching you .... only 2 more approvals =P

You'll never know unless you enter. :)

If you read the thread, it says any race. I just picked a dreadlord for the banner because I felt like it.

It's not a race.

Cleaned up the thread on the premise of stupidity and spam in large quantities.

Isn't there like a rule that states that you can't start a contest of this scale while the previous one still hasn't been judged? (The mapping contest, that is)

The last hero contest has been; this is a totally separate contest.

Activity tends to happen in spurts. Be patient. And on topic.

There's a rule about users not making rules up .

Not to mention they're both run by entirely different admins.

I could enter as a concept artist for paper, since I have no modelling experiance, and my triggering would have minimal skill at best.

Woah, totally missed this thread.

As stated in the... well, pretty much to everyone I meet, this is freakin' awexome. Many thanks to all involved; I've been looking forward to joining one of these since I first saw one (Numero Uno)

Dude, join. That (bolded) is absolute crock. No way is this harder than the Spell Olympics (for coders).. Ok, never mind, that's a bit broad. In some ways, it is both easier and more difficult.

But the most important thing is; you're supposed to be designing Blizzard-esque spells, that would fit into a Melee map, as well as fit the hero's Role, Theme, and works well with the races themselves. So you don't have to code crazy stuff like "projectiles spiralling into a unit and dealing X% of the caster's mana in damage" and junk. Sometimes some of the simplest spells enhance the flavor of a hero, and "flesh out" the hero's given Role.

That, plus a great model/skin/artwork, and you've got a kickin' hero entry.
