Into the Abyss
Latest Version: v0.1 Alpha

Map Overview:

Into the Abyss is a dungeon crawler type map which takes place in a deep cave. A group of wanderers wade through a cave but fall into a trap, sending them into the depths which leads to an ancient, forgotten city.

Features:
  • 10 huge levels planned out.
  • Powerful, scripted and fun bosses!
  • 6 different classes to choose from, with more classes possibly added in the future. Current classes are Barbarian, Sorceress, Shaman, Ranger, Assassin and Paladin.
  • An advanced skill tree system adapted from Diablo II, each class has three different skill trees which he can level up by using skill points. A hero gains a skill point by leveling up and killing bosses.
  • Each skill tree contains a set of spells, some spells are unlocked by leveling up the skill tree.
  • A neat stat system which allows you to spend stat points to increase your three major stats, which are Power, Dexterity and Energy. Stat points are gained through leveling up and defeating bosses.
  • A Status Ailment system adds more interactivity between players and spells. Use the 7 different ailments to your advantage! Which are Burn, Freeze, Poison, Blind, Mute, Sunder, and Cripple.
  • A Trance system which effectively adds to gameplay. Each player has a Trance bar, which goes up whenever he attacks or gets damaged. When the Trance bar gets full, the player can use a Tranceform(Pun intended) ability that amplifies the player's fighting capabilities. There are also Trance pots, which are potions that add to your Trance.
  • A random item-dropping system with item weights and stuff. Most drops would be gold, HP and mana pots. The more rare drops are Trance pots and etcetera.
  • Amazing and dazzling terrain works which, not only look great but are
strategically designed for the player's gaming experience.

Looks cool thus far. Do you have any images of actual stuff going on?

Those are the actual stuff, actually.

@The Dark One: If you want to do some texturing, you can PM me some of your previous work and we'll work it out from there.

Probably what we'd really need is an animator, hope we can get one :)

The first shot isn't the map, I just want to point that out so nobody gets confused. Nice of you to put the thread up, Malf, thanks.

Mc !
Sounds like an interesting project, with great terrain...

Perhaps I could try giving a hand (but you guys would need lots of patience xD)

We have plenty of time. We're really in no hurry; we want to get it done right, not just done. The terrain could use some tinkering, the majority of the 3 currently terrained levels still need to be coded, and there's still 7 other levels (according to plan), so ea, it'll be some time.

MC !, if you want to contribute anything it would be an honor. We have the patience.

Oh yes, it would be an honor ;) We understand that you're a very busy person, and that you're also working for other projects.

As previously stated, we are not in a rush or anything, development is going slowly but surely. Please PM me or drop a reply here if you are sure you would like to help us.

Other than that, we appreciate you taking an interest :)

I might be able to help you guys out, but like Mc !, you'd need quite a bit of patience xD
Anywho, I could be a modeler/texturer

Oh it's fine, there's no rush at all. ;)

Mc !
Wait a minute, you guys think I can't make textures or something? :P

Malf
Woops my bad! I've mostly been seeing you doing models using ingame textures, and I guess I forgot you could texture as well! Yeah that right now just reminds me of that blood mage skin you made for a contest xD

Apologies!

Just a friendly update. Finally finished the Sorceress' fire skill tree, phew! That took too long and boring. Now on to the ice skill tree!

I can estimate an early alpha version playable by January. By then there would probably be 2 classes and the Sorc would have a set of complete skill trees. :)

Crap, should really have attached these on the first post instead. Oh well. These pics are fire nova, meteor, and firenado, respectively.
