Aeon of Souls
To you who haven't guessed: this is an AoS :D

About
Since my last AoS map, AKoA, being a complete failure due to the lack of design, I decided to make a new one. This time being better, funnier, faster and actually planned, I hope that atleast some of you will enjoy this one. :)

Credits
This map is heavily inspired by Tides of Blood, Advent of the Zenith and Desert of Exile - I even got inspired from the special effects in those maps (I created a lot of effects which looked a lot like those from those maps for the newer heroes.), so a lot of credit goes to the creators of those maps. Furthermore, a lot of people helped me creating this, but those who helped me directly would probably be:

The rest of the people who helped me indirectly is credited in the map.

Finishing the map
Well, the map isn't quite fininshed - but I would say that it is more than 70% finished. As I aim towards atleast 16 heroes, 8 for each team (since it's a fast paced map), and have created 11, I am pretty much done with that. I have only created 11 basic items, heavily based on normal Warcraft III items, but please note, these are temporary.

Knowing that the mods/admins at this site is quite busy nowadays, I feel like I can submit this map with still something left before it being able to be played with 12 players. Since I only need 1 hero to acquire that, I think I can still submit this already.

Please also note that I've only finished 7 stories - 1 for each of the heroes at the Night Elves team, and 1 for the undeads. I also hope to acquire one for each hero before this getting a approval/disapproval. (This is probably going to take some time because of it taking time to create a good story.)

Features
So far, features is of a low quantity in this map, as my goal was to create a fun, yet simple map. That is why the current list of features is as short as it is.
  • Fills less than 2 MB!
  • Heavily customized experience system! (Less Heroes on one team = more experience for that team.)
  • A Condition System like DoE and AotZ', and most older RPGs!
  • Well-planned Heroes, each playing their role in the map!
  • 6 VS 6 Gameplay!
  • Unlike many other AoS maps, a nice terrain is included!
  • Nice effects, created specially for this map!

Commands
Well, so far the available commands are:
-allrandom, -ar, -allpick, -ap, -random, -allheroes (single player), -lvlup (single player)
Pretty common, eh?

Last word
I really hope this is better than my last tries, and I will try to take C&C as good as I can. Sorry for the bad screenshots, but I am unable to get some in multiplayer. :( There is now nothing but one word left to say: enjoy!

Looks like it might be fun! I see Dio's skin in there, it really is pretty cool. I'll test this tonight, time-permitting.

Hey thanks man! First time you've said that. :D
Well, I can warn you; it's really hard ending this, it's fast paced, but it is really hard destroying buildings, but you got a lot of bounty from it. And the main buildings is really weak BTW.

It took me ~2 hours to finish this with 5 players excluding me...

isn't the map archive for finished, or atleast, close to finished, maps?

Yeah, it's at least 70%. If he feels it's there, then that's fine. Really, the rule exists to prevent people from submitting alpha and beta versions of their maps.

Yeah. I told myself several times that it wasn't ready, but meh. (Earlier.)

I tried playing it, but it kept giving me a corrupt file error.

That sucks, one of my friends said so too, but it works just fine for me.
Better release a new version.

Half of my friends crashed out of the game when we played it. Also, there were a lot of silly things.
  • Team killing is allowed and I actually earned a lot of gold for it.
  • Blink dagger for 250g?
  • All items for obscenely low cost, actually.
  • It was really laggy for almost the entire game. We couldn't figure out why, either, it was just there and dropped our FPS way low for the whole time.
  • Heroes were pretty heavily based on those from other maps. I noticed that the KotG model hero had a lot of skills much like the Blood Mage in ToB.
  • The naga myrmidon time hero had practically a perpetual disable. First he lifted you up in the air and then he would freeze you in time, and he just kept doing that ad infinitum. It was quite annoying.
  • The game didn't last very long before none of us could handle the lag anymore, but in that time the battles seemed rather tame and unexciting. Hero combat wasn't very interactive, I couldn't even tell what or where the conditions in the map were. Hero skills didn't do virtually any damage at all, making battles really long and drawn out.
  • As the blood mage with the ghoul icon, I couldn't actually tell if my ultimate was working. Not to mention I really don't think it was worth being an ultimate in the first place. It stole 10 life a % of the time on attack? Come on!
In its current state I've got to say it's not ready for the database and I have to disapprove it. With enough persistent work and a lot more polish and design, though, it might be one day. We'll see!

I played this a few times by myself and here goes:
  • Items are not expensive enough as Dusk said.
  • Arcane Disrupter is boring to play, and his skills have no synergy and after casting his second skill 8 times I had yet to get a positive condition. Blind had basically no effect, seeing as it lasted 1 second. It has an x % chance to make 1 attack miss.
  • Playing as Battle Field General -- Get 1 Blink Dagger, 2 Items that add 300 life apiece. Randomly push then tank the tower dealing 50% damage. Also hsi jump skill should be area targetable, and go waaayy faster.
  • As Mind Ripper, he has no synergy his skills don't mesh at all and are boring.

Overall, I have to say that this is a collection random skills and ideas from other AoS maps.

You do have the basic layout on the other hand.

Suggestions:
  • Double, or even triple the cost of items. Add potions.
  • Work on synergy. Even if the spells don't have a direct effect on each other, casting them in certain ways and in certain order should help.
  • Try to make the terrain more defined. I found that it was hard to tell where you were on it.

Thanks for playing guys, but I'm unable to update it. My comp is unable to start, and I don't know if it's temporary or not. If not, this should get an approval or graveyardation, because then I can't update it.

Give me some time, will ya?

Okay, here I am with an update.

Quote:
Changelog:

- made creeps weaker.
- made heroes weaker.
- made spells stronger.
- made creeps faster.
- raised cooldown and mana requirement of the Elder of Time's spells.

EDIT: Attached a replay of a 1v1, even though it was 1v1, it was really fun!

Anyways, I've cleaned up this thread a bit. It will be tested when it gets tested, please don't bump the topic.
