EDIT Notification

I'm not sure how much work this would be, but meh.

I think there should be some sort of notification when an Edit is made to a post. Specifically the last post. Just something similar to how we are notified by New posts, or PMs; the topic is bolded, the little icon lights up/does whatever, so we know there's a new post.

I ask because, while people generally Edit for mundane stuff like spelling or grammar, or just deleting, there are those who actually address important issues/answer questions/raise further topics for consideration (being vague, here...), and it would be nice not to have to physically check each one, or find out about an "important" Edit too late.

Meh. Thoughts?

Maybe if it is like changing more than 50 character or something then it shows as new message.

But meh, people would just abuse that to pop up their posts and it would be lamer than double posting because you could not detect it clearly.

There is one thing about EDIT I would like to see changed.
Add some timer before it displayes that post is edited.

Mostly I edit post 10 seconds after I posted to fix some grammar and then it says that post has been edited and it pisses me off.
(other forums have this timeout on 60 sec or something)

I agree with what you're saying; a timer that shows how long (in seconds, if close enough) from Post to Edit. (right?)

But why does it bug you, if you post says "Edited at X:XX by ___" ???

No idea, but it bugs the crap out of me as well.

I reckon it should only give the message if...

A) The post edited WAS NOT the last post of the topic
B) The post was edited by someone else

Like, yeah.

Seeing that the post is edited also pissing me off. Well at hiveworkshop you can edit your posts fast without getting the "edit" tag. But if you wait a while before editing, the edit tag will appear.

But you have to remember that this forum is a high quality wc3 forum. Posting mistakes will not go unnoticed. You have 2 options:
  1. Leave your post unedited and hope your don't humiliate yourself so much...
  2. Fix your post and let everyone know that you did something wrong in your past with that post

Well how about the people who keep updated their posts like maps-changelogs or maps new features/Update for example ? :) did you think about them ?

Wait, what's the big stigma with edited posts? How does that make you look like a fool? Grammar and spelling aren't that big a deal (though my actions would lead you to believe otherwise... :P)
