One of the characters for my map series is a Rogue. I would like to make his abilities Trap and Ward based, if possible. Some example skills: Direct Damage Trap / Ward Sleep / Slow Trap Blind Trap - temporarily sets affected units vis to 1 I realize this will require trigger work (not my strong suit) but could someone get me started? I need to create new wards to refernce the triggers, right? Is this even possible? Hakujin |

Well, I don't have any incredibly specific answers, but I've been thinking about this and if you could detect when the ward entered the map you could replace it with a hero that looked like a ward and had appropriate abilities (direct damage -- a modified War Stomp with no stun and maybe diff graphics) (Slow -- a modified Thunder Clap with no additional damage) i don't know how sleeping would work aside from teleporting in a bunch of hidden casters to do the dirty work, and i have no idea about the blind thing. hmm, actually you could do something where you change the enemy units within range of the ward to a player group that is not hostile to the players but the players are still hostile to them (retain the color of the enemies)...This would be like they were blinded, cause they wouldnt be attacking. I guess for sleep you could also do the in range thing and add them to a unit group. Then you could tell the units in the unit group to sleep when unprovoked (hopefully that's personal, not group based (i.e. they wake when you attack them, but not when you attack someone next to them), and then after the appropriate time has expired you could wake em up. um, if you need clarification on any of these ideas ask, and I'll think about them some more, come up with the clarifications and give them. :D fr0ggE EDIT: come to think of it you wouldn't have to mess with special ward heroes...just replace the ward with a unit and set a timer and when its up do the effect to all things in range matching certain conditions, like slow them, or whatever. |
