A few questions...

Hello!

First of all, i am simply amazed by the "awesomeness" of this website and forum... Very cool to see that there is such a nice community concerning the Warcraft III editor...

Anyway, here are my questions:

1. When i scroll down/zoom out in the editor, half of the upper part of the screen goes black... Is there a way to zoom out far enough whilst still beeing able to see the map your working on? So that it don't fades out?

2. I am trying to give a tree an unlimited amount of lumber on it, so that it won't ever get depleted... I have searched the forum, and saw someone say that this can be changed by going to the "Object Editor" and then the TAB "Destructibles" or "Doodads" where you are able to change the value/life of the tree... However, i only have two TAB's: "Units" and "Items"?

3. I have read something about a custom Editor? To use instead of Blizzard's Editor? Does there exist such an editor and is it better to use that one?

Thanks in advance!

I assume your problem is the farZ clipping where geometry that's too far away from the camera doesn't get displayed. To modify that, hold down ctrl while moving your mousewheel. Be careful though, if you try to display too much stuff your framerate will drop significantly.

Wait... do you have the Frozen Throne, or just vanilla WC3?

There's the Jass NewGen pack which is basically an upgraded editor with lots of new features. However, if you don't have tFT, I'm not sure if it can work with RoC or not.

Even if you don't have TFT, you can always use //! import, then call JASSHelper externally on the map file to compile the code.

Thank you both for answering my questions!

I do have The Frozen Throne, but as i like to play vanilla Warcraft III more than The Frozen Throne, i currently have only vanilla Warcraft III installed to make sure while making a map it's compatible with vanilla Warcraft III...

If it only was possible to use the resources from The Frozen Throne, but when you play it, you play it like Warcraft III... That would be awesome... Since the The Frozen Throne editor has so much neat features...

About the "Jass NewGen pack", is it the following i must download and install: http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=90999?

Thank you!

the editor will tell you, i don't remember where, what game it is compatible with.

Thank you for your help so far all!

I am trying to get some custom models working...

- Imported them into the editor...
- Changed the path from "blabla/palmtree.mdx" to "palmtree.mdx"
- Saved the map and restarted the editor...
- Where can i find the models? I can't seem to find them ANYWHERE?

They should show up under "imported" when you go to select a model. It might be that you'll need to save the map and then restart the World Editor before the models work.

Also, it's not the model paths, but rather the relevant texture paths you need to change to the appropriate path.

Ah, but where? Is it in the Terrain/Units/Doodads/... window to your right?

Sorry for asking such "newb" questions, but the different tutorials concerning this i read don't say where i can find it in the editor...

I'm not certain there was a proper Import Manager for RoC.
