(10) Slaughter City

Slaughter City

Story
Its the zombie apocalypse. Bring a shotgun.

Gameplay
As proven by games like Left 4 Dead, World at War, etc. I have decided to rely on one simple formula.

Anything + Zombies = Awesome

The game is divided into several acts (2 are complete, I expect to have 5 in total or more). Each act, in completely different environments, contains 10 waves of different zombie enemies and increasing difficulty. Each player controls one marine hero and the game automatically scales according to how many players there are.

You can set up barricades to block the way and buy you some time, command airstrikes ranging from artillery to cryo-bombs, plant explosives, etc... There are many ways to play, and using different items and strategies is a necessity. This is a co-op map at base, and playing as only tanks will get you nowhere.

Every level your marine gets you get a skill point, which you can use to choose or upgrade a perk. You can only select 4 perks, and they usually range from a grenade launcher to a Sprint ability.

Weapons
Shotgun: Hits 6 different enemies around the marine.
Flamethrower: Deals no basic damage but lights zombies on fire.
Gattling: Really fast bullet spraying gun.
Sniper: Powerful but slow, usually kills zombies very quickly.

Perks
Grenade launcher: Launches a small explosive charge that deals AoE damage to enemies.
Sprint: Honestly, what do you think it does?
Support Drones: Spawns support drones that attack zombies.
Explosive Dart: Sticks a small explosive on a zombie that explodes when the enemy dies.
C4: Allows you to drop multiple charges of C4 and detonate them at the same time.

-More to come-

I'll eventually need testers, someone to host and a way to show videos of the map. But the map is barely 50% done, so that might take a while.

One thing I can tell you about the look of the game though, is that this is the most bloody and violent map in Wc3 history. Blood is used without restraint here. The map is also set in a modern setting, with buildings, streets and all that kind of stuff.

Uhm, can I get a hell yes? If the gameplay is a quarter as cool as those screenshots, I'm sold.

Those buildings are tiny, but whatever. Looks sweet, though.

Just stretch the doodads in Z and voillah.

If I make them any bigger they block the view. And I prefer to stack them and make more elaborate buildings than just stretch them, anyway.

Thanks for the comments.

Wow, the screenshots are amazing (though the buildings are small, and the giant scaled flesh on some of those other buildings look like they don't belong). But really, should an engineer have a SHOTGUN?

DAMN! The way those buildings are covered with flesh..! This is most probably going to be great.

Something that you should keep in mind: What happens if someone dies? Does the player have to wait all the time and have to do nothing? Or will you give them another option to do after being eaten by the zombies?

At least for me that is a problem in such survival maps... <.<

Anyway, what you got so far looks good. ^^

The game works with rounds/waves of enemies, so after every round the dead players are revived. If all the players die, the game is over.

And the Engineer might potentially be overpowered... C4 charges kick the hell out of any mob of zombies and the shotgun is a pretty damn good weapon too. Needs some balancing. :/

Will the Medic will be able to "revive" the "dead" players just like how you can revive in L4D and WaW?

Hmm, didn't think about that. I guess its a necessity though.

Looks fucking brilliant. Better than the old Apocalypse hosted project at the hive.

And with your explosion models this is gonna be win and awesome.

Well, I'm fresh out of ideas for abilities. The engineer is complete, but most of the other classes only have a few abilities.

Engineer: Repair, C4, Drones and Energy Field
Sniper: Bleeding shot, Explosive Dart, Concentration, ????
Pyro: Napalm Grenade, ????, ????, ????
Gattling: Stopping Power, Berserk (semi-invulnerable), ????, ????
Medic: ????

If anyone has any ideas they feel like sharing, please do. Credits will be given. :)

Hehe, if you need ideas, WILL, be around some time in the THW chat / WC3C IRC when I'm testing Zulu Company.
