[WIP] Doc Hydworth

Well... Here it is, the model I made myself of the good ol' Doc... I posted this in my project thread already, but I'm here as I need real feedback and help with this guy.

This is going to be a hero in my mod. The whole model has overall 1062 polies, but only when counting both the normal and alternate mesh. The normal (left one) mesh has just 532 polies.

Right now, I wonder how to do the uvwrapping (I read some of the tutorials already) and of course how to animate him....

And by the way: This is my third real model... Hence I ask for help. <,<'

The Tools I use: 3ds Max 5 + Art Tools

Side note: The head of his normal form is assymentrical, but that was by accident. It is already fixed.

there's two ways to do unwrapping.

the other way is more complicated but bassically you copy the models, "unwrap" and "flatten" it, make the skin, and then wrap it back around the copy and delete the copy.

^I think I need to pay attention to that...

So there's an alternate form? Is that just like the regular Alchemist's spell (Chemical Rage)?

Nuclear Arbitor
of course not, its based off the demo hunter

*slaps forehead* Oh, of course. Makes perfect sense; the Immolation flames come from the back-gauge, he Evades easily due to his bulky back-pack and distorted body mass distribution, and he Mana Burns enemies with his energy-nozzle.

--EDIT--
Woot, 1,555th post!

Uhm... Right......

Well, thanks Nuclear_Arbitor, altough I finally understood the other tutorial. I just had a little problem where the buttons were greyed out for some reason. ;)

Anyway, after 3 days working on them, I finished the UVW maps. Of course, they are not perfect, but it is practice. ^^

And yes, Kyrbi0, he has an alternate form as he is after all the Alchemist. :P

edit: Here is just an earlier example of the UVW:

I was gonna ask why you left half the space open, but I remember the alternate form.

Very nice. :P

This is just a preview. The other half is for the tank and the tube, but since they are different meshes, I couldn't display them at once (to my knowledge).

Heck, I'm already began skinning this little guy, altough I might remake a bit of the UVW again! :P

Well, time for an update...

Texturing has begun and I'm messing with the UVW from time to time.

The Alpha parts aren't properly recognized in the preview, but still... Work goes on! :9

Lookin' good. My only concerns are with the face (sorry, not an art-guy; can't tell what looks 'off') and the 'Roid-Rage arm (?).

Current state of the texture... Will work later on it a bit more, but I think I want to start animating for now...

theres some error in the face texture(a part of it looks darker that the rest), or was that on purpose? otherwise looking good.

I think the whole back of the model looks darker-than-normal. Is that because of a light in the Rendering process (= no idea :P)

odd but i actually like him. reminds me of jesus.

@ Jigrael: It was something that I had no luck with getting rid of... Until now... It isn't perfect, but it is far more acceptable.

@Kyrbi0: That is no error....

@ Nuclear Arbitor: Jesus? O.o

Anyway, I still have no luck with the animating, though, at least I succeded in letting him move his fingers... But there are holes which normally should be fixed ... -.-'

edit: Great... Forgot to post the image of the slighty improved face......
