Okay, I hope this is the right section :P So, after not modeling for some time, I finally managed to overcome my laziness and do something. This is a model of Saul Hudson, aka Slash. Don't think I'm one of the kids who heard of him after guitar hero, no, he's been my inspiration for almost 7 years, and was one of the reasons I even started playing guitar. <333 Now to the model itself. Mesh is made in 3ds max 9, I started with a plane :), and I took the arthas face because I suck at modeling humanoid faces. The model will have a custom texture. The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul, it looks a bit edgy since I tried to keep the poly count as low as possible. The things the model is missing: Hair. Awesome curly hair :3 and... some minor details. [NOTE: The texture on the guitar is just a placeholder, I'll make a custom one when the model is ready.] If this thing succeeds, I might make more famous people :P Comments and critique are welcome. |

Make some roundy shoulders, if you don't it will look terrible if animated. |

add another loop and make it rounder? okay :D |

Reduce polies. But, seriously. I still love this one Lio. |

lol, the head looks like it has about as many polys as the rest put together. apart from being rather plain he looks fine. |

yeah, better have a nice texture though or it'll all show in game. given how low poly he already is you could add more stuff and at least the model would look more interesting. not sure what he'd wear though as i have no clue who he is. |

yourself.Anyway, Lio, the guitar seems sorta smooth, could you turn it into quads? The rest is fine. |

<333333 HT, man, you're alive :) @Nuclear: oh my, you don't know who he is. /facepalm and for the guitar, it's made out of a cylinder, that's why it sucks so much ^^; and HT, does the mesh remind you of something? :P |

Well yeah, it does, looks like you're doing your meshes exactly the same way as I do xD (8slice cylinder body, 4slice cylinder limbs, 4stacks on the body etc) :P |

Actually, it started from a 1*1 plane :P |

But you can have the same thing in the end :P (I started plane modeling too :P) |

sucks, extrusions are faster. course, if you have no clue what your doing it takes for fucking ever. another way is to make an outline using a plane with lots of segments, weld the stray verts, delete all the faces, and then fill it in by hand. did that. its slow but gets a really nice out line. works best for things with most of the detail on one side, like a gun. or take a basic primitive, move it into the general shape, then divide and turn to make it look nice. got a book that taught me that, very good for heads. |

No. The book that teaches you that one technique is better than another makes you a TOOL. If you know what you are doing, any technique (well technique you got used to and execute it well) will always work. You can't teach people what technique to use. |

no but this one is fast and its good for the head I'm making. and it's not going to turn me into a tool, i have a hell of a time completing anything. also, tools have skillz. |
