Just wondering what how people would feel about a single-lane AoS: -Comments? -Suggestions? -Tips? -Concerns? Basically there's 2 sides, with 5 players on each side. Players pick from a pool of 10-12 neutral heroes. |

There'd have to be a lot more cool things about the map than just having one lane to make it "different". There's a lot of AoSes out there buddy, so you gotta have a lot of different things that make it unique and fun, not just changing up the number of lanes. It would be a nice change from the default 3 though if done correctly. |

I don't want to go into to much detail but: - All units (including heroes) will have the same fixed amount of hp and mana. - Currently attributes are absolutely useless and have no effect on heroes. - Each hero will have 6 skills with limited skill points. - Creeps will be upgradable and improvable. - Every push counts, I'd like the map to be fast paced and mostly fun. - These are just a few things. I'm not trying to be the best I just want to make a map that is fun and hopefully different to play. :) |

Like I said, as long as you do a good job on it then it will be fun. The hardest part now is just creating it :P |

By removing the second dimension, you cheat yourself of tactics. The game, as spawns cant be chosen as in Tech Wars or Castle Fight, boils down to which army is stronger and ends there. The snowball effect also will likely run rampant, as it gives a major advantage to the winners of battles and otherwise just makes the Heroes on one side better. Additionally, the game also ends up getting dumb fast, as nothing has any meaning-- It's all about who is stonger. |

Y, I would suggest also a fast paced aos, and please, don't take DotA into account :D |

Imagine me having my Paladin and you having your Tauren Cheiftan. To win, you must defeat the opponent's Hero. Now imagine that being the whole game-- That's one-dimensional combat, and it's not fun alone. Whoever is stronger wins, and he always wins. There is no depth, there is no meaning. |

Do you really think 1 lane is enough to make a fun and challenging fight? There's a good reason most AOS use some variation of 3 lanes. |

In other words, by eliminating attributes and their bonuses combat is one-dimensional? -All heroes and units will have the same amount of hitpoints and mana. -Damage, attack speed, and armor will be balanced accordingly. |

How about additional spatial dimensions? One lane, but with a material dimension, ethereal dimension, and whatever. I recall a lovely Naga-themed AoS that applied this idea quite well through the use of Submerge as a toggle. |

Hmm I remember playing a 1 lane aos a while ago, unfortunately forgot the name. It had one lane with neutral creeps on the sides, and on the sides of the enemy base spawns would come which would provide gold etc for the other team, so you could attack these caravans and kill them before entering the base. It seemed to work better than expected because everyone didn't simply push the same lane, but went to neutrals and attacked enemy base caravans etc to distribute experience. So overall I am not opposed to 1 lane, but as long as there are alternatives, when there might only be 2-3 heroes in the main lane at any time, with rest heroes creeping etc, then all 5 join for pushes. It can make an aos more combat oriented, but will require quite close attention to be payed to map layout so it is not too small. Unfortunately no idea what the name was so you'll have to look for that :P. I also remember emjlr3 (sp?) made a map like this? |
