1: I am technically trying to deprotect a map 2: The map is mine 3: I accidentally deleted the folder the original map was in when I was cleaning the desktop 4: I have the protected map + 4.j files it came with when I optimized it I used Vex's Map Optimizer for this. When I used the optimizer (export file was in wc3 map directory) it came with 4 j files. (1).j, (2).j, (3).j, and (4).j all with the prefix of the map.w3x So, would those 4 files restore the map? (I'm guessing they are a backup of the data that was removed upon optimization) If this is against the rules, than I'm also going to guess the sound editor is against the rules because you could export a sound and use it in another game (copyright infringement) |

map unprotecting is here not supported either ... and those files are only the jass-part of your map... the ".j" stands for jass... |

If you deleted the file recently, you can use a data recovery tool to extract the bits (aka the file) off of your HD, assuming your computer has not already replaced that location where the original map was stored by another file. I have used GetDataBack with excellent results. As stated by akolyt0r, map deprotection, in any form, is not permitted here. Please read the rules |

If the map was yours then you "technically" made backups or older versions. |

I'm not quite sure how we could be more explicit. Read the rules, ignorance of them, particularly the site wide rules, will not be taken as an excuse. |
