I had an idea for a campaign that featured High Elves and Trolls as their own race. Thing is EVERYONE is making High Elves an Trolls. This in and of itself isnt bad, until you take into account the expansion is totally going to throw me off. Well my question to you guys is should I continue. I had a cool idea to work within the storyline of the expansion and instead of doing High Elves, I was thinking of doing up a Blood Elven race. My storyline explains why you are playing only Blood Elves and no other "Human" units. My basic theroy is that the survivors of Quel'thalas made a bloodpact similar to that made by the Orcs, hence the term "Blood Elf." This theory was perpetuated by the fact that it I read something like the Blood Mage was using magic culled from the Burning Legion. Anyway I think it would be an interesting twist for a campaign... What do you guys think. As for the Trolls, thier part of the storyline works pretty well how it is, save for the fact that I will have to change on of their heroes (was going to use Shadow Hunter, but since it is going to be an official retail unit now for Island trolls, I dont want to make him a forest troll). Anyway, my Troll race consists primarily of Trolls, Ogres, and Kobalds (slaves). Seeing that the Elves are weakened, a young Warlord by the name of Zul'dare sees his oppourtunity to deal a final crushing blow to his race's mortal enemies, the High Elves. Like I said, more or less I got the whole thing planned out, but I will probably have to change a few things after the expansion comes out. Basically if you guys think I should go for it, let me know. I dont want to work on a campaign no one would be interested in . BTW just more FYI, I would be adding these races which would work in normal melee, along with the other 4 races, some of which would be modified and tweeked, and the campaign would probably feature more then just High Elves and Trolls (think of it like another expansion). |

Yo. -There are several WC3-WC1 conversions already, but myself and Rommel are making one anyway. Why? We're doing it our way, in our own style and way of telling. :) -ALL magic comes from the Burning Legion - more specifically, the Twisting Nether. It's quoted as the 'nexus of magical energies of existence' or something. The reason the Legion invading, in addition to Archimonde wanting a massive magical essence, was because the magic was being used in the world: it's their very lifeforce (Blizzard never really elaborated on this in the campaign - probably to keep the Legion as purely evil and power-hungry). This is how they detect it and move against people who do so- like a mosquito sucking blood out of you. See Archimonde's 'speech' in the Undead cinematic too, it's why he hates the human mages so much. -The Blood Elves do indeed get their energies from the Legion. This reminds me of the Demon Hunter's, who use the demons own energies against them. Allegedly the Blood Elves enter a pact with the Legion too. -People are making High Elf and Troll races because there's a lot of history, especially between the two (i.e. a big bloody war), and a campaign with them fighting has a lot of potential (Plus the humans, led by Arthas, coming in the end and helping out). The Blood Elves are more concerned with fighting the undead, though. -I'm sure you could modify the Shadow Hunter to be a different type of troll. We'll have to wait for more details from Blizzard. -Overall, yes it's a good idea, but I'd wait and see. The Blood Elves are a very small number now, after the Undead ravaged most of Quel'thalas. We realy need to know more before making an entire race - or you could just mix and match with the Elven units seen in the Quel'thalas levels. Hmm! |

Well here is an example of what I had in mind for the Tier 1 melee unit. Sword Dancers - Of the survivors of the Quel'thalas masacre, few high elves felt as guilty as the frontline survivors, the Swordsmen. When the bloodpact was offered to the High Elves, these former Swordsmen were some of the first to enter into this unholy truce with the Burning Legion, and this last oppourtunity for venegnce. I was envisioning the Blood Elves as guilt stricken for the death of their brothers, and having entered into this unholy pact to gain the power necessary to exact revenge on Arthas and eradicate the Scourge. They were propositioned in a time of grief, and mourning, and made the desiscion out of anger. Though it would be too late before they realize what they had done. Anyway that was my idea for the Elves (after learning of the expansion). Originally the campaign was going to start off with you playing Trolls, you start as Zul'dare (Warlord type hero), as he gathers forces etc. He then tries to take out the elves once and for all. Actually the bloodpact could serve 2 purposes, one in helping to get enough power to fight the scourge, and two helping to not die at the hands of the trolls. Anyway the trolls were going to originally fall due to infighting within their ranks (between the heroes) however with the added power of the blood pact, that doesnt have to be only reason why they are defeated. The elven campaign was going to be two fold, after countering the troll threat, they were going to take the battle to Northrend... Like I said I had an intricate storyline with the history of all the heroes planned out (was gonna use Vareena Windrunner as Ranger hero, from Day of the Dragon). I have most of the units planned out. Basically what I am asking is does this sound remotely interesting/cool or boring and dumb? :( |
