When using either the regular world editor, or the new UMS editor, I have a problem when I click on the players properties, or the upgrade properties in the menu with all the chioces under the map description stuff. If that wasn't clear enough, then what I'm talking about is the the place where you change your player forces. My problem seems to start whenever I click on that menu. Once that occurs, my World Editor freezes, and thus refuses to work. It's quite a large problem for me, as I would like to make a decent map but I can't do that without being able to put anyone on a team. If anyone can help me with my problem it would be duly appreciated. - Novalon |

Hmm, that sucks... It probably is simply just a crappy computer, but you might want to try to re-install WC3, though I doubt that would do anything. I used to have problems like this too, but now I have a new computer, and it of course stopped being a problem. |

I was not clear with my system specifications. Though it is not a brand new computer, it is a 1.3 Ghz with 640 meg of Random Access Memory, so I do not believe that it is the problem. Besides, It was working fine before, I think I might actually have to reinstall in order for it to work correctly. |

I recently ran a reinstall to find that the same error persisted. A thought occured to me that my system previously ran Windows Millenium Edition, and maybe the move to Windows XP may have caused some unknown error when trying to access any of the functions besides those having to do with Map Description under the scenario menu. When it freezes in XP, I ctrl-alt-del to find that it isn't responding (of course, meaning that it is frozen) perhaps there is a problem in my registry (doubtful, but I'd be afraid to mess around with those kind of files) or it is perhaps the nature of the new operating system that caused it. I used the program before with less amounts of RAM, around 128, so I know it isn't a ram problem, because the ram I put in is exactly the same type as the kind that was previously in my computer. If anyone else, perhaps someone who is enlightened in the effects of Windows XP on the Warcraft III World Editor, can give me some assistance, I would appreciate it, for without this very important function, I cannot work any more on my map making skills. Thanks in advance to anyone who can figure the problem out! |

Using my great skills of deduction, I have found the answer to this crazy problem that even Godfather Scio could not figure out! It was so simple I wanted to scream at the friggen computer! And now for the answer to this problem with not being able to open up my Forces and stuff: It was the stupid Upgradedata.slk that I had been messing around with! I left it in the main folder, and I was doing some kind of Mega Upgrade thing for Humans (in an Altered Warcraft Map that I am making), but it caused the World Editor to stop responding. To anyone who is reading this: if you come across this problem, move the AbilityData.slk to a folder that won't be read by World Editor when it is started up! |
