Hi...First and firstly of all, I have to fall on my knees and apologize to Antiarf because I was a dick and didn't finish my part for the hero contest, thus waisting both of our time :(...It was because I got really obsessed with Team Fortress 2, which also explains my 2 months absence. I'll try to keep it under control. So yeah, Antiarf now's your chance to unleash your anger, I deserve it. Just to be safe, if I'll ask you to team up again simply say no (because I'll surely forget). Ok, now that I've taken that off my chest let's see what we got here. As mentioned, I'm really deep into TF2 right now. So why the heck not try to mod it? I know the Source engine is very good for mods, so I gave it a shot. I started with something easy, just to see if I can do it, so I replaced the Scout's metal bat with a reinforced concrete one... It has 1000 faces more than the original model though, but doesn't have an impact on performance. Sadly, the world model is not far from that either because I was too lazy to make a separate optimized mesh. This took me 3 days, starting with no previous knowledge of the workflow for the source engine. I'm looking forward to doing more! BUUUUT I'm also NOT going to stay out of here for months and I did not forget about the doom models pack (which I started almost 1 YEAR ago), and the failed hero contest entry (if Antiarf still somehow wants it...) and many others which I forgot about... Oh, and by the way, who else besides me and jig will join dominance war IV? It's for concept art too. If you have tf2 and for some reason you'd like to try this out, you can download it from here: http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/59689 ![]() |

Haha, awesome bat, though I dislike how the environment is under detailed compared to it. |

Well yeah, as usual I fail to integrate something in an existing context. The entire game has this cool cartoonish look and I made a kinda realistic bat...fail. It was for testing anyway, but I think I'll release it, what the heck. |

Still looks cool nonetheless. If you reskin it to fit better, maybe a spot of blood on one of the corners? |

It does look rather sexy. |

I consider myself lucky that I never actually enjoy all of the games everyone else finds addictive. (WoW, TF2, etc) Anyways, I like the bat, and can really add nothing in terms of feedback except reiteration of what was already said. |

BONK! It's awesome |

Wow, neat bat. I like the bits of rebar poking through; makes it seem all the more dangerous. :P I can't really tell how it doesn't fit in with the rest of the game... But then again, I wouldn't know. Also: Quote:

its looks odd. there's a hell of a lot of rebar for something that small and the rebar is tiny. plus the amazing amount of detail makes it look like he grabbed an abused column out of the ground, shrunk it, and decided to use it. it's also not very long although i realize the original one isn't either. if you wanted to go even further you might be able to replace the aluminum bonk sounds with a concrete one. i think what makes it looks so different is the skin, try using one of the concrete textures that the game does. |

I agree with the sounds though, I thought about it but was too lazy to make some. Maybe someone will offer to make them. And yes, I realize it would have fitted much better if I used the in-game concrete as reference. I think I'll make another texture and material as an alternative which will hopefully make it fit better. But anyway, the whole purpose of this model was to get myself familiarized with the workflow of getting something into Source, and it served its purpose well. |

Maybe a single-core of rebar, or, like, 3 evenly spaced (would make more sense). |

rebar is about half an inch, that stuff is like a quarter of an inch. and if it was a bat it would probably have rebar, simply because concrete isn't strong when when its being "wiggled". probably have a 2x2 grid though. x..x : : x..x |

...dude...I know rebar, I know concrete, I study that stuff at uni (and really, something that size doesn't need rebar even if you bash it around, well maybe only in the handle area). I KNOW this is not realistic, it wasn't intended to be (well maybe the textures)...the whole game is cartoony and silly. And if I put fewer rebars it wouldn't have looked as good. |

Hmm, TDR, could you post a wireframe? I am interested in the way you did the topology. |
