OK, this texture has some areas that could use improvement. Recolouring the skintones drops out the majority of the contrast that the original texture had. Notice that now there are no highlights, since the light areas are now midtones. Even with darker skintones, there are always highlights. In addition, this texture has too much recolouring for it to be approved, just a heads up. The freehand areas that you've done are somewhat blurry and undefined, there's very little contrast of light/dark and colours. Work at 300-500% zoom if necessary, or failing that, increase the resolution (but beware of how the texture changes as it shrinks). Thematically, the wooden areas seem quite off. OK, I understand that she's a Nymph/Dryad-type character, but consider your application here. The areas that you've made wood are intended to be cloth on the model and as such flap around in a way that wood never could. If you're set on using the nature theme, I'd recommend something along the lines of leaves or vines - something that would believably move the way the cloth on the model does. It's a good start though, always a pleasure to see more people texturing :) |

Yeah. I was kinda lost after I started this one, and didn't really know what to do with the skin. And I'm certainly not planning to submit it. Quote:
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of how the wood came out for most of it. And, for the theme point thanks. I'll take it into consideration. Thanks for the comments, both of you! (Especially you A.R) |

Definition! Go for definition! If you take a look at your work here, you'll see that it's lacking any real form of definition. On top of that, you're missing out entirely on highlights and shading. Remember that wc3 textures are easy because you can pretend the light sources are always coming from above. Here, though, you've got no light sources at all. Check out her chest, see how everything's one color? That's a problem you should work on, it'll make leaps and bounds of a difference in the end result. Stark highlighting is a really helpful thing for getting something to both look good in WC3 and fit the rest of WC3 smoothly. And definition again. Look at the legs and the parts that seem to be bark or whatever. Those details should be well thought out and designed in such a manner that they actually look like what they are supposed to be. For instance, you have her wearing hosiery that is made of bark? That doesn't make sense, nor does it look good. I guess this falls back to concept, though; know what you want to make before you make it, otherwise it'll look rather random (as it currently does). Her face needs those highlights and boosted definition for all of the above reasons as well. Good try on the whole, though, keep up the good work! |

For some reason I put a sharpen filter on it too. It was like 1AM in the morning, and I can't for the life of my remember why. I'll take this all under advisement for mah next skin. *goes to make concept* Suggestions for concepts are welcome. Something you'd like to see (Just a general idea here). |

How bout make a Blood Mage into a Wood Elf? Blood Mage may have a tricky chest wrap, but it will be easier for most of the other skinners here to help you with ideas because..hell everyone has probably done over 10 BM skins aha |

I'm sorry, you must be mistaken. It is usually referred to as "teh shiz". Common misconception, I assure you. :P It's Harraxe, a cool Forest Troll hero. It's for the campaigns of the GTW mod, which I am just beginning to realize exactly how much work it will be to release. O_o. |
