adding stuff to model files

I want to change a units model file, but just add stuff to it like in pimp my peon. can anyone point me in the right direction to a basic tutorial..... im kinda new to editing model files.

this would involve using attachments, it is very simple and requires very little knowledge of the WE, there is a tutorials section here, look through General and Beginners tutorials
