OMG Hidden Alpha Model in .MPQ

Yup, you heard me.
Found this little beauty in the RoC .mpq under Doodads\Ashenvale\Structures\PillarsRuined\PillarsRuined.mdx
Took a little repairing as it was previously broken (had to remake the normals as Blizz seems to have removed them for some reason).

Wow, pretty scwheet. Is the green-glow around the base some kind of SFX, or just glowy grass? :P

That reminds me; I ought upload all those alpha models I found (ball-n-chain bearing Tauren (minotaur), Orc well, full-masked Footman, etc...).

And yeah Kyrbi0, if you've got other Alpha/Pre-Beta models or textures, I'd love to see 'em :)

EDIT: It can actually be selected in WorldEdit, but due to the missing normals info, it looks terrible :P Trying my repaired version now...

That does look pretty sweet, but well, doesn't fit in with other doodads to well.

Intriguing. I wonder why nobody else ever found it? They assumed PillarsRuined was just the normal pillar doodads, I suppose.

aye, to my knowledge, there aren't too many more... Once you get it working, HeroBloodSphere.mdx is identical to the BloodElfBall.mdx. The Beta Grunt Berserker spell art works ingame, yet not in Magos (yet), I'll have to see if it's any different.

If anyone knows of any other 'broken' old models from the .mpq, let me know!

The alpha model don't look good if you don't lower graphic setting =X(The doodad's grass is a low setting graphic grass)
