Guest | Hey! Does anyone know what to do to make the minimap preview screen show up as a picture instead of the actual map. Ive seen this done in Rival nations and jail break. Someone point me in the right direction plz Thanks~ |

Sure Simple thing. You will need a few programs though. First you need to get the WINMPQ program... think you can DL it from the downloads section in this site. Second you will need a program which changes the size of pictures. A good program I suggest is called IRFANVIEW. Use it to change the size of the picture to the size of your map. It should be 256x256 I believe. Then as you save your picture make sure it is in the .TGA format. Save the file as war3mappreview.tga Third use the WINMPQ program to open the mapfile you have. Add the picture war3mappreview.tga to the map and save. Then open up the game to see your picture. Warning... you will have to insert the picture EVERY time you open up the editor because it resets the picture back to normal map. Hope this helps. |

Theres an easier way to do this. Get the W3M Map Utilities. Simple way to do it right in the program. Link to W3M Map Utilities Forum |

Guest | Thanks, Loofy! By the way, is this how custom title/loading screens (not the minimap preview) are created too? What's the name of the file to replace for a custom loading screen? (for instance, the FMVH mod has a title screen to look at while loading the map instead of some random warcraft 3 campaign title screen) |

Lol brittle - the day you figure out how to implement loading screen picture for warcraft III multiplayer will be the day wc3campaigns staff will hail you as an expert :D Also - I could not find any FMVH Mutliplayer maps that have a custom loading screen. If you mean the picture of the demon hunter ... that's built in and anyone can simply change it using the map editor. Just go to the map and go to map properties... somewhere there it will ask you what type of background do you want when loading. So far no one that I know has created a multiplayer map with a custom loading screen, there are some single player maps of course, but they required lots of work. |
