Question about calculated shadows...

... in only a certain portion of a map.

I have a map in a campaign that has both indoor and outdoor sections. I want to know how to use the "Calculate Shadows and Save Map" feature to calculate the shadows for the outdoor part, but not the indoor part. I'm asking this because I'm using custom trees, and they don't have a shadow.

I've attached 3 screenshots (an overhead and a look at two "doors" between inner and outer regions.). The map currently uses Nasrudins gtree models. Units have been omitted.

hmm the only way i can think of would be to edit the generated shadows afterwards ... dunno if that would work ... even if it does, it would be very difficult to achieve what you want.

Yeah, but how would I do that?

well get winmpq (or another mpq program)
open your map with it
open war3map.shd (after calculating the shadows + saving your map), with some text-program (notepad ?)

"EDIT IT" (no clue about thaat)

I'm trying something else. I'm covering the dungeon with a ton of elevators (that won't be used anywhere else), Calculating and saving, and then deleting those elevators when I'm done. If that doesn't work, then at least the outside portion has shadows. (Ugh! My computer is so slow right now!)

EDIT: Just found out that trying to switch between Mozilla and World Editor while calculating shadows will cause World Editor to Not Respond. Then messing with the task manager freezes my computer...

EDIT2: Seems that adding elevators did nothing. I'll try your suggestion after I patch my Wc3.

EDIT3: That was 2 whole hours waiting for my map's shadows to be calculated... I don't know how to edit it either, so I'll just +rep ya and be on my way.
