Patch 1.23
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

FEATURES

- Battle.net now uses a new banner ad system.

FIXES

- Fixed an exploit where an altered custom map would be seen identical to the original custom map.
- Fixed an issue where some patches could not apply on Intel Macs.

Regarding the exploit, it appears you could take a known map and modify its map script to add things as long as they don't desync, for example you could "easily" make a map hack. There was a rumor you could even do stuff that affects gameplay directly through the use of gamecache, but we couldn't verify it before 1.23 was out.

Another open question is whether this exploit fix also stops different translated versions of a map from inter-operating.

I have tested latest grimoire and war3err in Linux and they seem to still work as well as they worked in 1.22, so it is not likely they would stop working in other computers (at least no apparent new problems from 1.23) However, if you have a modified worldedit.exe it is a good idea to restore to the original executable before updating. It is also a good idea to keep a copy of the new executables in a safe place, just in case a patch 1.24 comes...
