Well, this is my first proper re-skin, the Zombie Villager. It, quite obviously, is a Villager reskinned as a Zombie - regarding the untextured part on the leg, does anyone have any ideas on what material I could use for that? Perhaps some ripped leggings with slashes going down the legs? - Note: The reason I don;t have a screenshot is because I'm having issues importing, I've tried both custom filepaths that I know of, but I don't know how to find out the filepath. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Updates: - Added image of unwrapped texture with ripped leggings. - Added Screenshot of texture on model. - Added second, more developed screenshot. - Added eye pupils onto skin |

When you use [img] tags, you can't just use the attachment number. :P Go to your User CP, and on the bottom of the left-hand panel, you will see a link to "Attachments". This is a list of all the attachments you have attached currently (from the beginning). Find your most recent attachment (the image you want to showcase), and click on it to find it's specific URL (which happens to be at this site). Then it's just like linking an image from the Internet; you put that URL into the [img] tags and away you go. |

Huh. Looks very edited, but I'm not texturist. Have you looked at it in War3Viewer or Magos or something? |

No, but I can't right now :P (wrong computer) I'll view it in War3Viewer ASAP. (Would this perhaps have something to do with finding out the filepath?). |

I think it can help. |

Ah, good, thanks a bunch. - I'll put the image of the Zombie Villager with the ripped legging + slashes down leg ASAP, along with an image of the one with metal leggings and the one with normal leggings. |

Shroom, it seems good so far, but until you make a screen of the texture used on the model, I can't tell anything else. :P EDIT: Sorry, but I voted even before reading the thread... XD |

OK, i have War3 Model Editor v1.05 open, with the Texture Manager open, with the Zombie Villager, what now? |
| 03-21-2009, 09:32 PM | #9 |
Umm... Get v1.07? :P (do a Search) I don't really know. I assumed you could open the model (villager), replace the villager texture with your custom one, and then it'll display right (War3Viewer is better for this sort of thing, for texturing. Much easier to replace skins and such). |

Right click in the Texture Manager window, then select Import from the list that drops down. Then open Material Manager, double click one of the materials to open it, double click the Material Layer that appears to open it. From there, you can tell what texture is being used for that material and change it to your imported texture if it is the correct material. Easy way to find the right material without going through each and every one is to hold CTRL and Left Click on the part of the model that you want to change the texture for. Then, in the Material Manager, the Material that corresponds to the geoset you clicked will be highlighted. Be careful around glows though, as it is easy to accidentally select the glow rather than the geoset underneath it. Texture-wise, I'd need to see it wrapped to make any kind of comment. The stitches on the arm look a bit off though. The 1-pixel black lines just aren't doing it. Google is your friend here, go find some refereneces :) |

WC3Viewer is a lot easier imo. You just have to go to Current File>Remap textures, click on the texture and go to "Change..." and choose your skin. The program is kinda buggy with some models though. Another thing I like to do is steal the paths (a txt file) that comes in WC3 Model Editor, and go to File>External listfile on WC3V and choose the txt file and you´ll get the whole list of stuff in the mpqs, with the extra stuff included. |

Well, I added the screenshot of the Zombie itself to the first post :) - Guess I'd better fix up the stitches on the arm.. - EDIT: I just realised how ugly the legs look, I should probably fix that up :P |

He looks like he has a red-haired goatee. Besides that looks pretty good. Although his clothes are pretty clean for being a zombie, but hey, who am I to say zombies can't have good hygiene? |

Updated screenshot. @ShadowWolf Is that 'gritty' enough clothes for a zombie? @AR I'm not entirely sure the stitches on the arm look 'clean' enough, if you know what I mean (a neater kind of look). I tried to get a sort of pus+blood like look on them, thoughts? |
