alright i was looking at the Orc Shaman's ability, Purge. Does anyone know what the 0 under Data12 is used for? Does that happen to be damage to normal units?

Data11 is factor by which the target is slowed, and Data13 is the damage to summoned units. The OrcAbilityString says nothing about Data12.

I don't have Excel with any of those nifty comments :(

Open up OrcAbilityStrings.txt and it will tell you, go to its descrip. and look for it.

nope, it doesn't say anything about Data12 there.
And i did say that in my original post :gsmile:

When you open the AbilityData.slk in Excel its supposed to have all these notes about the thing, apparently. Could someone with Excel take a quick look and see if it says what data12 is?

well if it wasn't used it would most likely be a dash, but in this case its a '0'. This leads me to believe that it's doing something, and if it controls damage to non-summoned units, then its just what i want.

The comment for Data12 is "attack frequency." I would guess that it is used to slow down the targeted unit's attack speed.

damn i just thought of a cool spell..

"hold" "freeze" whatever.

set move freq to 1 and attack freq to like .1

short duration but cool effect

ok, well I wanted to make this into shocking grasp for my DnD map, but it looks like it won't work without adding it some (hell of ez to make) triggers. Damn...

So, I'm thinking shocking grasp should be based off of a direct damage spell. The only spell that I can think of that is purely direct damage without stun or something else, is Finger of Death. I'm sure there must be more. can anyone think of others for me?

heh, that was the original base i was going to use for the spell, but the character i wanted to give it to actually *gets* chain lighting later on, and you can't have two or more skills on a character with the same code. Phooey.

What's wrong with using any other direct damage spell if you just remove the extra effect duration?

Holy Light/Death Coil work fine as damage spells just let hte target be all.
