How the hell do you make it work? I created a mesh using splines that i covered with surface and then converted to an editable mesh and that worked fine but i absolutely can not get Boolean to work. I've tried three times from the beginning and it always deforms the mesh; cap holes does as well. am i missing something here?

well, i tried boolean aswell, couldnt find any deformation in mine...
maybe you could post the mesh (you can send me a pm with a pastebin link if you dont want to have it public)

but maybe you should try to activate the other mesh and swap operand a and b

you have 3ds max >8 or do i need to export?

EDIT: screw it, I'll ul it tomorrow.

i'm sry, doesnt work for me either!
i tried to switch the operands, convert it as editable poly.. but it deforms all the way.. i'm sry i couldnt help!

i think I'm gonna have to try using the model the book came with... he may have forgotten to mention something

I think you need to show the edges first. Worked for me.

the things selected in red are edges.

In that picture I selected some of them and clicked invisible, thats how your model looks after importing, most of its edges are hidden. You need to make visible all edges and after that you can apply Boolean correctly

sweet, it works. never would have figured that out my self. i wonder if max 6 automatically had it viewable or i somehow set it becuase Paul didn't mention it.
