It looks like race contest was a success about ideas... so I think I should try my luck here too. Hi guys. My project CCFE has a Chaos Orc ladder race as some of you may know. However this race is unbalanced and has problems. Also their abilities suck. So I decided to remake the race and I came up with this ideas. However I am not sure if this new ideas are good. I fear that I am making the race too powerful and too unbalanced, and I also lack ideas and names for some key units. So I am here (again) asking for the opinion of the community. Please give suggestions and ideas, I give rep++ to people who help. Quote:
I would like to have suggestions for units abilities and buildings. Now this is what I need to find/know: - Do you think this race is overpowered ? - Cool name for Dark Stick ability ... lol - Special ability for Red Dragon (supposed to be a counter for Frost Wyrm) - Cool name for the special corrupted wyvern ability - Cool icon for Stick ability from Wyvern - Cool icon for Mindful Spear - Cool icon for Ward longevity - Do you think Mindful Spear is too strong against casters ? - Do you think I should replace Spiked Barricades for something more original? Modifications: - Completely remade the description, now everything has more detail! - Remade mindful spear ability - Found an icon for Chaos Rage - Made Battle Transe weaker - Now people can download the file! I think this is all =D |

what do you think about: - Chaos Seeker and Voodoo Warmage ? Damn this post needs rep++! |

Voodoo is sort of scheming, a Warmage sounds like they'd always be there... so the two don't seem to go well together. Voodoo doesn't seem to have a lot that goes with it, but Voodoo Warmage does have some sense in it but not as much as I like. Chaos Seeker sounds odd, Chaos Invoker sounds more appropriate to me. Voodoo Seeker and Chaos Warmage, lolol. |

Trolls are the masters of Voodoo, not orcs. Anyways, I think your race seems too much like the Orc race. You reused alot of names and models. As of the mages... Simply Warmage and Seeker, or, if it won't fit, then Chaos Warmage and Fel\Chaos Seeker. Also, replacing "Warmage" with "Magus" is an idea. |

As for the casters the new names: - Fel Seeker (red) - Chaos Warmage (green) Quote:
Also, what should I call a Fel Grunt ? Chaos Grunt ? It is a grunt from the orcs, there is nothing you can do about that. I don't mind importing more buildings, but they must be decent and small ... I didn't find many good working small models here ... rep++ deolrin EDIT EDIT EDIT Anyway, first post updated. You are not forced to read the whole, thing, just jump to the last part where I say the stuff I need, then use "ctrl + f" to search the ability in the document. Hope you enjoy the changes! |

@ Deolrin Seeker on its own seems a bit not-Orcish to me, just Seeker sort-of implies exploration, not searching for stuff to murder or a bounty hunter. |

lil question: for what is the spirit stick? You can order it to follow a unit by simply giving it a attack-order |

So in THW some people decided I should turn that into an ability, and I agree. However, if you have any ideas, I am willing to listen to them. |

I'm a fan of race-building. I'm glad there's been a recent surge of this, although I wouldn't be so conceited to imagine it was all because of me. :P ~~~ That being said, I haven't gone through it all. Couple issues/questions: 1) I see you're using the hidden ChaosOrcRange model. In what way is it ranged (i.e. I know it has those claws, what exactly does he "throw")? 2) "Spirit Stick" is a pretty funny idea (not just the name, either). I think right-click Following is totally adequate. However, maybe you disagree. That's cool. In this case, I think a certain ability could work really well, and probably be really easy to code. Just give the Corrupted Wyvern (thingy?) an ability that let's it 'transplant' itself into a target enemy unit's soul, providing vision for as long as he does it. (then again, since you can't control the unit, how could you ever 'release' it?...) Maybe instead, you give it a Channeling spell that targets a single enemy unit, which makes the Corrupted Wyvern untargettable and perma-linked to the target unit, providing vision. Something like that. 3) Voodoo = Trolls. 'Nuff said. 4) Quote:
This is commendable, but you're going about it the wrong way. It's not like you have to mimic the Orc techtree because that's how they portrayed it in the campaign. For one, you only got to play with them a grand total of 1 time; that's not much to make a good impression with. :P For two, if you'll notice, you also still have Troll Headhunters and Witch Doctors in the campaign; and obviously, real Fel Orcs (as well as ones not aligned with the Horde) wouldn't have that. It seems you're going more off the Burning Blade clan, in a way. To whit, I say that Dragons is a great, fitting idea (perfect T3 Ownage Device). ((speaking of which, you need to remove Devour, since no playable race copies the abilities of the others for the most part. Spell Immunity is fine, and then they just need another ability, should be fine)) I think that's it. Maybe. Good luck. :P |

An Fel Orc race could be pretty sweet, but you need to spice it up more. Change some of the units out with some cool custom models. I think I've seen some nice Fel Orc models around here and there, that could make for awesomenes.. |

I have a weird idea in mind, a Race campaign where all the races of Wacraft are together... it would be sweet because the size of imports would be unlimited but I lack time and story =P So this is only what I have for now. |

I would say scrap the techtree in its entirety. Think about the base desgin a lot more. Read more on the Fel Orc lore. Ask yourself: "How i want them to play? Offensive or Deffensive? Early, mid or late game strong? Focus on strenght, maneuvering or spells?" "What is their motivation? Survival, Domination, Pleasure?" "How would the fictional hierarchy work?" "Do they work alone, or other races allied with them?" "What about their heroes? Supportive, tankers or what?". Each of them would help you a bit on thinking a far more original design. Then just adapt your ideas to the MCV model, which is quite the norm. |
